Paysite Design Prices
Why is there such a huge difference in the prices of designed paysites? Is it undercutting, does one not sell, etc?
*Note, I am not in the market for a new design, unless ya wanna do it for free :-)* Ive been looking at a few prices while making my business plan before looking for venture capital (between 5 and 10k) and the site design was the most expensive portion. Ive seen quotes from 400 bucks to 2000 dollars for basic sites. any difference? |
I think the main differences are in the following:
- quality - type of company: a kid living at home or still in college, is cheaper than a company with bizz expenses, like software licences, housing, taxes - geographical location: some eastern euro countries have an average monthly income of 400$, where as western countries have an average of 2500$. :2 cents: |
There is always a difference between cheap and expensive, altho it isnt a big one in most cases.. Some people just live in shitty countries and they can settle with way less.. on the other hand some ppl will charge you a huge amount and deliver shit.. its not about the price, its about finding the right person to do it

There is NOT always a difference in quality when a big price difference exists. If I was a designer, I'd rather do 15 $500 designs a month than 3.5 $2000 designs. If a designer can build a high quality paysite in a day, why make someone pay a weeks worth of work for it?

quality of both design and service is one of the main differences.

You can also check out non-adult designs and see what designers are charging there for. You can compare the number of pages you will receive in each, flash or no flash, and also the differences between the pages, since non-adult designs usually differ less between pages than making a tour and a members area. Then you will see whats an acceptable price and what to expect for it. Also make sure you get a sample of the HTML from your designer before you let him do a project. Just because it looks pretty and seems to work doesnt mean that his HTML skills are any good.
Working with horrible HTML thats not very CSS compliant will really leave a bad taste in your mouth after a while. |
