Help me name my fish

I bought a new irridescent shark last night, and as soon as we got him in the car he "fainted", which is apparently pretty common for this type of fish. He played dead for several minutes, only to wake up for a few seconds and then fainted again.
I've been wracking my brain to come up with a good name for him (something to do with fainting or playing dead). Help!

Amputate Your Head 07-10-2003 09:40 PM

call him Bob. Bob the fish.

A fainting fish. That's pretty unique. All sorts of funny name opportunities there.

I saw those goats on "America's Funniest Animals". Those things rock! I would get one, but I don't think my landlord would appreciate it.

I can't belive it has "shark" in the name. I really thought it looked like a shark till I looked it up on Google. It looks like something you catch in a pond. Just call it "fish" - a creature that looks like that doesn't deserve a name.

I have an other one of the same kind for almost 2 years and he's never fainted, at least not that I know of. I also read that they are prone to knocking themselves out on the glass and other objects in the tank.

I think it's actually a catfish of some kind, but they call it a shark because of the large dorsel fin.
I can't name it "fish" because that's too close to one I already have named "pish".

Snowone 07-10-2003 09:58 PM

anything that small should be called bait.

If you already have a "pish" you need to name this one "poosh." It's the only reasonable thing to do.

Gotta give him a couple of years before he will reach "lunch" status. He's only about 2 inches now. The 2 year old is 8 inches already.

If you were a Monty Python fan you would already know what to call this fish.

Eric. Eric the fainting fish.

No, not a big Monty Python fan, although I did love Brazil. Which one was the fainting fish in?

Well it looks like Possum it is. Seems like the perfect name for a fish who "faints".

I liked Bait too, but I can't seem to think "Bait" without thinking "BaitBus" for some reason.

Peter Romero 07-10-2003 11:55 PM

name him "Pussy"

Adam said to Eve after bathing in the pond in the garden of Eden... "Damn it Eve, now we'll never get the smell outta the fish!

Holly 07-11-2003 12:28 AM

Did I win??? Did I win??? YEA!!!! :thumbsup :drinkup

Without the o's, meant 'at the beginning'. I think they're technically opossums but no one around here pronounces it that way. I went to school with a bunch of guys from up North and they said it with the "O". It always sounded really bizarre to me but I didn't know if that's how everyone pronounces it in the rest of the country.

I think Possum is a good fish name. He will obviously be extremely cool. :glugglug
