Fuck man, some stupid lady stepped out on the highway and i hit her with my jeep. Now i get to go to federal court. I can't sleep, eat, think, or about anything else.

What do you do to deal with such stress? I'm fucking lossing it here.

My mom used to be an attorney, but now she is the head of the law school here in Georiga. I'm sure everything will work out all right, but fuck man i'm only 19 i shouldn't have to put up with this.

I'll elaborate a bit much on the story.

It was college spring break and a huge group of people went to key west for the week. We had a blast, partied our asses off, got wasted all day every day and what not. We get kicked out of our hotel room a day early so we start to our 15 hour drive home. We don't even make it out of the keys before the accident happend.

I was going north of highway 1, tons of traffic because everyone is leaving key west. I was driving in the fast lane with all my friends past out in the back, but i was only doing like 40 cause there was so much traffic when some 70 year old lady stepped out in the room.

Its a 4 lane high way with 2 lanes going in both directions and probably a 75 feet wooded divider. She froze like a deer and i tried to swerve but i barely got her with the corner of the jeep. She was hurt badly but still talking and the police came and so did a helicopter and took her away. They told me I did nothing wrong and sent me on my way; it seemed a bit odd to me but whatever. We get 10 mins down the road when i get a call saying to turn around because the lady passed away and now this was a homicide investigation.

Came back, chilled in the back of the cop car for 6 hours why the tried to recreate the events. 6 hours later the send me back on my way saying once again i did nothing wrong.

Now the old hag's only surviving family member, her grand daughter is fucking taking me to court. I mean fuck, i've had a hard enough time trying to get over the accident and driving again is a bitch sometimes and now i get to meet with lawyers and go to fucking federal court.

Just fuck, its all i can say.

I live of xanex and ambiens now because i can't sleep and anxiety is a bitch.

First of all ... I am not a lawyer, but there must be INTENT to kill to be charged with any type of Homicide ... accidental death can be MANSLAUGHTER at best ... get yourself a good lawyer

My best friend killed a girl in a traffic accident when he was 17 ... so was she, and happened to be a friend of both of ours ... it was just freak chance that she was the passenger in the car he hit ... there was no alcohol or partying or any foul play involved at all ...

It is tough to go threw, but 16 years later now, he is happily married and is a great person ... his then girlfriend stuck with him thru the whole ordeal, and now they are married for 10 years ...

Your life is FAR FROM OVER bro ... it just kinda sucks right now :( ... but will get better. Witnessing similar events first hand, I know what you are going thru ... Bart was my best friend, and still is one of them to this day, although we live very far away from each other ...

my buddy decapitated a cop 3 years ago in a traffic accident when he was trying to light a cig. he was depressed throughout the whole ordeal but his lawyer was reaaaaaaallly good, you get what you pay for. He never stepped foot in a jail and his probation is already over. He's doing a lot better these days.

As long as you have insurance you should be ok.. even if you don;t win. Your insurance will cover the claim. Now.. your car insurance will be crazy expensive for the rest of your life, but you wont be going to jail man.

BULLSHIT - there is a law against driving too fast for road conditions regardless of any posted signs. Its a loophole favored for law enforcement.

If there is a 70 yr old woman on the side of the road trying to cross the street, you slow down enough where you can completely stop to avoid it.

Not to say it his fault, but mistakes were made on his behalf. I find it hard to believe that a 70 yr old lady did an olympic jump into lane X from a safe_distance_from_the_road:)

Exactly! I wasn't under the influence of anything. If i would of missed her the car behind me would of hit her or the car next to me.

If this happend is most other states, they couldn't even take me to court. In FL they have this law that every little thing might add a percentage to being my fault. Saying the windows down, radio on, having a lot of people in the car and on the cell phone adds up to 4% my fault. That's how she is taking me to court.

More or less she did, i to this day still believe she was trying to commit suicide. And it wasn't like it was a intersection or ped crossing, it was a highway. Even if she would of crossed the street there was nothing on the other side but more trees.
