Anyone Else Lost Friends To A Drive By?
 

When I was 19 had a group of buddies get rolled on while hanging out in the back of a bar just before closing.

Cops concluded it was a gang initiation.

Basically, a guy jumped out of the woods in a skimask with a gun in each hand, shot as much as he could into the crowd of my friends and jumped in a car that pulled up seconds after the firing started.

Lost 2 friends that night.

Anniversaries suck.

I never lost any of my friends in a drive by, but I've been shot at in 4 or 5 of them and shot at people in one myself once.

I did... when I was 13 my friend's mom drove up one night and picked up him up, and I haven't seen him since.

My niece when she was 12 lost a young friend to a drive by.

The little girl who died was at a friend's house playing...the intended target was her friend's brother...the fucker wasn't even home...just two little girls playing in the front yard.

never to a drive bye thank god. but alot to car accidents.

I had one happen at a community center on a saturday night, two cars sprayed the parking lot once, about 4 or 5 people got hit and then they returned after reloading and fucking sprayed it down again and hit another two or three people who were outside trying to help the people shot the first time.

One happened in front of my house when I lived in Fresno, I think they were going after someone at the neighbors house and I was out sitting on the porch.

Another one in Dallas when I was in Deep Ellum a couple guys rolled up on motorcycles and sprayed the car up in front of me and killed the two guys in it.

Then one happend at a club in Dallas when I was in the parking lot, near closing some guys that must have been kicked out for fighting came back as people were outside in the parking lot fucking around and getting ready to leave and sprayed at us all.

Then I was in a car at the club driving around the parking lot right before close and some guys tried to put a bottle and rock through the window of my friends lexus so we drove back around and shot at them.

I forgot about the one when i was in college in Tyler texas at the club where some guys in two cadillacs were sitting outside across the parking lot with their lights off and rolled up as we were all leaving and shot some people up right by me.

Fuck that's just the begining, those are drivebys I guess, but I've been around plenty more shootings, stabbings and shit.

Yeah probably that night I was an idiot. But I guess you have to know what it's like to hang out a rough place and always carry a gun. You do stupid things in the heat of the moment. I'm at my computer working these days because of stupid things and pulling guns, got me probation for a few years.

i know what it's like, but a) killing someone for what is a beating offence is fucked, and b) going to jail for stupidly over-reacting is even worse. But yeah of course you do stupid things in the heat of the moment.. probably why I won't have a gun in the house. That and the fact that i'll never need it unless i put myself in that situation.

Oh man this is so fucking true. I have so many regrets since my mother passed...her last year in this world was not a great one between us...but we had at least reconciled...I just now look at the shit we got bent over and it was clearly not worth it.

About 22 years ago in Canoga Park, (in the Valley) a neighbor that was dealing coke got wasted when he answered the door by a wholesaler he had fucked over. The shooter got popped too by a 12 gauge by a friend of the guy that got clipped.

You could see both of them all blown apart from the street with blood and guts all over. It was really gross. Shotguns close range really do a number on a body.

I did just a couple of weeks ago. A friend of mines was rollin with his girl in his neighborhood.He thought he saw a friend of his and he backed up,someone shot him 3 times in the head and his girlfriend got out and ran and hid in the bushes...true story

That's because were not stupid enough to pass a law where our citizens have the right to bear arms.

The funny thing is that most people claim to carry a gun for protection but statistics show (I'm having to make the numbers up because I forget the real figures) your 6 or 7 times likely to be shot if your carrying a gun, numbers do not lie.

Just the other day two teenage girls got killed out here in Birmingham (caught in crossfire)

There are more shootings in parts of Birmingham than probably the whole State of New York - I kid you not!

Not close personal friends, but an acquaintince's son was killed in a driveby here in detroit many years ago.

I personally lost 3 of friends in less than 1 week my last 3 weeks of high school (also many years ago). All were 3 seperate instances.

Suicide, Accident and Stupidity.

One hung himself and I know my parents still visit his grave every 4th of July.

The 2nd was a car accident.

The 3rd was being drunk and deciding to play chicken with a train.

where did you live at that time?

This stuff just does not happen in the gated suburbs I live in.

when i was managing a club, the guy babysitting my son was a REALLY nice 19 year old. one night, he dropped off my son and was on his way home to his mom's house when he was shot three times through his car.

turned out the guys mistook him for someone else. maybe they should take a second look before they start fucking shooting.

he was in the hospital not expected to make it for a while, and after he did recover, he needed physical therapy before he could walk again.

About the same age, a goup of friends and I were walking down the street and some did a drive by egging. We never saw the car again..

HAHAHA If someone starts driving up and down your street a few times looking at your house, I would suggest you duck then :)

Doesn't happen often, and when it does it usually makes the national news. Like those two girls in Birmingham or the guy on the council estate down here in Hastings (that was a year or so ago). It all seems to be drug or gang related, same as it is in the US. I still feel safer here than I ever did in Annapolis.:2 cents:

I never heard of a drive by in sweden. And I don't think it happens often here..we got 45 murders one year in a sex months period.. on 8.8 million people.

This is one reason im glad i dont have no friends near me I dont leave the house unless i go shoot, or goto my ma's Hell I pay my mom to goto the food store and bring me and the kids food I hate being around abounch of people *shrugs*

It happens more often than you think - although your right that particular incident made national news it is very rare for that to happen. The local newspapers & TV usually reports it though.

Birmingham I believe has more gun crime now than London - though not always drive-bys. Just last month there someone was shot dead in a barbers chair.

"Last year the number of firearm-related incidents in the West Midlands increased by almost 50% from 1,512 in 2000-01 to 2,262" - from Sky News. ( I think most of them would of been in Birmingham - Handsworth and surrounding areas)

Thats a lot of gunplay for such a small place :(

had a friend in summer 91 that was sprayed with bullets by a guy at the local 7-11

Guy thought that my friend tried to steal his car the night before which wasnt the case, Just mistaken idenity.

Another guy in the same weekend got hit by a high spped amtrak train as we were hanging out drinking in the woods next to the tracks. For some reason, this kid decided to get up and run about 20 yards to the tracks and play chicken with the train.

The sight of a human being literally splattering apart is something you never forget.

True. I left LA about a month before the riots hit...my father was driving my car and was t-boned at an intersection and the cops would not come when he called them.

My car got totalled and the shit heel who did it never paid up...oh well.

But in hindsight, you could see that shit had been brewing in town for quite sometime and when it did explode it was no real surprise.
