First of all I see one very big reason. The EU wants to control a new market. There are several million people in a very poor economical state... they are quite close to the normal Europe in cultural and value believes. And what better way to boost a stale economic marketplace than to introduce an up-and-coming market of millions to YOUR products. Don't forget, we still have tarifs on non-EU products. Especially cheap stuff from Africa and Southern America.
To get all the former Warszawpact countries into EU will be an economical and political achievement.

That brings me to the 2nd reason.
I believe there's a political 'carrot' to chase for many European politicians. There's never been a century of peace or union in Europe. Imagine being referred to as one of the first people to unite Europe. It's a historic achievement.

So yes, maybe I'm stupid, maybe I'm right. I just know that Nationalism is flowing through Europe and there's a reason!
The EU is not gonna be able to carry the weight of so many poor countries without serious frustrations from the people of the rich countries. It will fail. And actually I hope it does.

Ofcourse the final burst will be the entrance of Turkey as a EU country. That will cause the desctruction of EU if nothing else.

I have to disagree with many points you have made. You claim that the people of European nations like and want the current trend to continue, but in all my searching of the net, etc I have see little proof. What I do see however, is that European Nationalism is at an all time high. Despite 50 years of media bias (i.e. since the end of WWII) the workers are starting to unite.

The blackshirts are again guarding Mussolini?s grave (the founder of fascism - if you do not understand even the basic of fascism please do not post a reply stating I am a 'Nazi'), Le Pen got one of the largest votes ever, the Vlaams Blok are still rising (currently the largest party in 'Belgium' - yet they still hold now power in parliament), it took an assassination to stop Pim Fortuyn, and every nation in Western Europe (basically) has an established anti-immigration/Nationalist/anti-EU party.

All this and more, despite over 50 years of media bias, despite government attacks on political dissidents, and despite the various attempts to ban such parties (i.e. the NDP, and Vlaams Blok). Imagine if, for the past 50 years, the media bias was to the other side? Towards moderate nationalism? What do you think the result would be?

If you walk around Europe and take an honest poll, if you ask true Europeans (White Europeans) if they are happy that their lands are being sold out, if they are happy for immigration to increase, and if they are happy with the path of the European Union, I guarantee you will be shocked.

The fact of the matter is democracy should be spelt deMOCKracy. They are not listening to what the masses want; they are listening to what the media wants. They are listening to those few individuals who wield enough power to change an election. The fact that immigration is increasing, and that Islamic states are joining the European Union, speaks nothing for what Europeans themselves want!
