Easily solved with a daily dose of methamphetamine.

goBigtime 07-07-2003 12:08 AM

Kimmykim 07-07-2003 12:09 AM

If that's all the questions you have to answer in order to have it, I'll bet we all do.

goBigtime 07-07-2003 12:10 AM

Bah. Drug company hotlinks.

goBigtime 07-07-2003 12:12 AM

Basically they say... take this test & give it to your doctor, so he will be forced to medicate using our several hundred dollar a month treatment for the rest of your life.

Don't have it but know quite a few that would probably fit the diagnosis. I'll send them the page, but I doubt they'll take the time to read through all of it.

ADD is too much like just normal symptoms HUMANS have in general. It's really a testament to our primate ancestry that we would try to put a label on it, along with everything else.

The shame of it is that we prescribe powerful tranquilizers to 'combat' this 'threat' in our children. God forbid we have inquisitive and restless children, isn't that the nature of children? Go ahead, flame away.

dchottie 07-07-2003 05:46 AM

Yes, god forbid we have children that are restless.

How many times have you had to pick your child up from daycare because he couldn't control his urge to disturb the rest of the group, how many times have you had to pick your child up from the principle's office because he can't control his urge to disrupt the class, how many times have you wondered if your child is going to be in special ed because he doesn't have the concentration skills to learn his ABC's, how much money have you spent on private tutors so that your child won't end up in special ed?

I almost lost my day job from having to leave so often to pick my son up from school. And yes, I tried discipline but that was not the issue. He is now on a very light medication called Concerta and in the first two months of taking it he went from not being able to say his ABC's to being the top student in his class and reading chapter books. He also is one of the star players on his soccer team. I don't believe in overmedicating but if one pill a day can work wonders like this I don't have a problem with it.

Just for the record though, this does not in any way affect his personality or make him a zombie. It just help him focus on the tasks at hand. He's still a hyper kid and still is mischievous but at least he can learn now without the frustration.
