He'll got off just like Iverson did when he was charged with something.

Digipimp 07-06-2003 06:18 PM

I would tend to think it's a setup, but one thing about it is this. When it's a setup the guy never gets charged, he just gets accused and it goes to grand jury or something, in this one the police say they have enough evidence to believe it warranted him being charged. So who knows, there are always women trying to set these guys up, but there are plenty of these guys that fuck up on their own too.

SpaceAce 07-06-2003 06:19 PM

You guys crack me up. There are no people anywhere on this planet with a greater sense of entitlement and self-interest than American sports stars. Just look at the track (and police) records of many of them. Yet, Kobe gets busted and everyone immediately starts with the "setup!" crap. Bullshit, the cops don't arrest mega-star athletes without a more-than-average amount of evidence. Read the article, it references an investigation and physical evidence.

You are right about this. But many of today's sports stars have seen what happens to them in legal incident. Many professional leagues have classes to educate the players on situation to avoid.

I have never met Kobe, I do not know him personally, but his public persona is much more refined and classy as compaired to Iverson or Lewis.

Without a negative track-record, to me Kobe defiantely deserves the benefit of the doubt....

Iverson chokes his coach: nothing happens. OJ (probably) murders two people: nothing happens. Rodman kicks a cameraman in the balls (and does a million other things): nothing happens. I don't think they have any fear of consequences.

I didn't say I necessarily think he's guilty. I don't have an opinion one way or the other. I just think it's ridiculous how much leeway people are willing to give stars and how far out of their way they will go to swallow any bullshit story rather than see the cracked pedestals they have some of these public figure on.
