the whole patent issue should be with companies that make programs that encode video into MPEG, not with people who use MPEG video and those programs.

what's next? a fee to use microsoft windows every time I turn it on to do business work with it? I paid my fee upfront to licence the program - i can use everything that program produced for free now..........

Once that is set up then they will be able to start taking contributions/donations etc.

The problem is we've been waiting sine Jan for the site so we can contribute. Surely it doesn't take that long to set up a non-profit corp in California?

I don't even see this as an issue of whether you work directly with video or not. ALL webmasters should be ready to contribute a few bucks, because if you plan on making money from an adult sponsor in the future then your livelihood depends on them not losing this case. If Acacia is successful it could put some sponsors out of business.


Be concerned. Even if you're a newbie, consider having a measly $5 or $10 bucks ready to paypal to a legal fund to help out. If you can afford more, by all means when an official fund is set up, cough it up.

So is there going to be a website? If so, are there already plans for it?

I'm sure we could find a designer here at GFY to whip up a basic design for the site, and I would be more than willing to host the site.
