They shouldn't even let these domains be assigned

If they want to stop CP they should stop it at the source and not even let these domains back into the system. Today VirtualCh_ldPornography and VirtualK_ddiePorn drop.

Fucking idiots at ICANN. :ak47:

speaking of ICANN, I just got an email from them today saying my contacts on my domain are not accurate
but they are! everything except phone number
am I allowed putting a false phone number? I dont wanna be contacted about my porn domains

Paul Markham 07-04-2003 11:08 PM

Some URL registrations are a joke, just a list of N/As

But you are right KRL, the easiest way to restrict these guys is through domain registration and CC processing.

Mr.Fiction 07-04-2003 11:12 PM

Wrong. They allow all domains to be registered, no matter what.

How about making all cars that go over 55 MPH illegal too?

You do not want them to start censoring based on words. That is the worst fucking anti-freedom idea.

Free speech is more important than you feeling safe.

Imagine they had a list of words you couldn't use in the titles of books, would you agree with that too?

Censorship is bad, no matter who you think you're helping.

The proper solution is to go after specific illegal content, period.

They will delete you domain if the phone number is false and someone reports you.

Just go to one of the online services that allows you to get a phone number for a few dollars a month and get one of those numbers.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...line+voicemail

Why 07-04-2003 11:16 PM

j2.com will sell you phone numbers and such, or you can get live operators or voicemail for pretty cheap monthly as well if your that worried.

so what is he doing?
what is he supposed to change?

Theo 07-04-2003 11:22 PM

he told them his info are valid and they can check it by contacting him

I don't use my real info on most domains, but nobody ever reported them for such thing. I don't see why someone will even do a whois on my domains.....

You should do what Mr.Fiction said, get a valid offshore phone # and have a normal address. You can even get a free fax # and have.

Use an EFax number. You can get them free. You can set it so that it will do a voice prompt saying to leave a voice mail press 1 or if you're sending a fax press 2.

I agree to an extent on free speech, but going through the list I just saw PreteenPhotos and VirtualChildSex are also dropping. There isn't any justification whatsoever that those shouldn't be censored.

Virtual Child Porn was ruled legal by the Supreme Court. PreteenPhotos.com does not have to have anything to do with sex unless you are looking for that. These are just words. The free exchange of ideas through words is one of the foundations of a free society.

In the case of the virtual child porn one, how can you even consider banning a domain that simply has the same words as the Supreme Court used in a ruling where they found in favor of the issue that those very words describe? Should the Supreme Court be allowed to use these words that you want banned? Should teachers, artists, and politicians?

You would be better off arguing that Murder.com, MachineGuns.com, Speeding.com, Bombs.com, Terrorism.com, Pot.com, UnderageSmoking.com, SpittingOnCops.com, PrankPhoneCalls.com, should be banned, at least some of those things are illegal.

Censorship is bad. Punish actual crimes, don't try to be the thought police. They ban words in Iraq and Syria, not in America. :)

Carrie 07-05-2003 02:51 AM

KRL I was just going through the list too and saw a shitload of kiddie/lol*ta type stuff. Ugh.

Don't think that people won't call you. I put an old phone number on purpose because I got tired of the friggin .US domain sellers calling me up to ask me if I wanted to buy the .us versions of all my .com domains.
And as a mainstream host, it's *real* nice when a surfer who is trying to visit a client's web site calls you up because he can't get to it. Fucking idiots - why don't they call the webmaster? It's not like I can tell him the site is down for non-payment... *rolls eyes*

I will go check out efax, though. If I have to pay to receive telemarketing calls, forget it.

Would someone please tell that to the IPSPs ? Since now young and twink seem to be making their lists.

Theo 07-05-2003 04:14 AM

SpittingOnCops.com

i think ill register it

Tuzz 07-05-2003 06:49 AM

Do what I do,
Get a cell phone with voice messaging just for domain registration, $20 a month and you're all set

chodadog 07-05-2003 08:06 AM

Like not having the domain is going to make a difference? CP sitse are still going to be indexed and searched for.

sumphatpimp 07-05-2003 09:20 AM

their are some registars where for a couple bucks extra they keep your registration info private. Won't appear on a whois lookup. I think that do that to make it a little harder to steal a domain besides the privacy issue.
