High Trial prices -- prevents fraud or not?
 

Does setting higher trial prices for paysites minimize fraud or is there no effect?

BVF posted something about this earlier. Also, asswatcher.com has a high trial amount. Does this prevent fraud? What's the effect on conversion from trial to recurring?

For us higher trials tend to recur better and incur less chargebacks...not sure why except maybe when they are looking at a cheap $1.95 trial - those that sign up are cheap sons a bitches as it is :)

Good points. My follow up question is: does this result in enough volume to be worth replacing a $4.95 or lower trial?

What trial price do you charge?

we went from 1.95 to 3.95 on our biggest site...we went over the figures over the past three years and discovered that 3.95 tends to convert better and create more revenue. I can't speak for higher trials...I think that's the highest we've ever gone.

*pro-rata* my 9 day/$9.95 trials convert best to recurring. The majority of 3 day trials cancel within a couple of hours. IMO the 5 and 9 day trials are more serious punters interested in viewing porn on an ongoing basis, thus giving more of a chance to recur...
