Thumbs tgps -better than links tgps
 

Are thumbs tgps better than text link tgps, or do the thumbs cause the surfer to click the galleries instead of banners

do they use too much bandwith, waddya think?

see what works for yu and stick with it. Whats works for me might not work for you and vice versa.

Thumbs are the future. Text is the past.

Thumbs sites take way too long to load. Not everybody has cable or dsl. I like to use both.

The general consensus is that tumb tgps are better from a surfing point of view. Of course they use more b/w - but it's still peanuts really. If your surfers are clicking your galleries and not your banners than your traffic either is low quality, untargetted, or your ads are poorly designed and not grabbing the surfer - regardless of the tgp style.

I will never go thumb..but that's just me. I don't see why you should use thumbs. They take bandwidth, load slow for surfers with modem..and I don't think a page full of thumbs looks good.

Scenario 1 & 2.

Average joe visit your site. He looks at all thumbs and then click on one that he likes. He already know what is going to happen.

This is much better. Average joe visit you site. He looks at all text links and find a hot description(in the niche he loves?)..he then build a little expection before he click that link..so he get hot when he see that this expection match all pictures in in the gallery.

Thumbs is boring..text sells

I learnt more from that interview I heard 3 months ago than I did in years about surfer nature and buying habits etc.

We actually just designed a THUMB preview. You put your mouse over a text link and you get a picture that's in that gallery. I don't think I have ever seen anyone else do this. So far in beta.....people like it. The site is www.hotadultsites.com

or you could show him EXACTLY what you are going to see and then deliver the surfer the exact content you are promising them = happy = bookmark.

most people can't write very accurate descriptions - and a picture is worth a thousand words - no thousand word descriptions is there? Surfer reads broken english text link 'Teen blonde poses on bed dorm' then clicks the gallery and gets some skank ass 23 year old chick and leaves your site. :2 cents:

No thumbs for me. Are you going to preload all the thumbs or have them load with the onmouseover?

Having them load onmouseover would be the practical thing to do. I believe he's doing it for dial-up users, therefore, they wouldn't want to wait on preloaded images.

Hmmm... didn't seem to work for me at first though, does it need time to preload the thumbs?

No preloading.........I have an awesome programmer who just designed the script,
we are still perfecting it. Surfers love it!!
This week we are ready to start sending traffic to the site. With the beta that we did it was VERY sticky!! :Graucho

I am going to have to agree with you. I use the Thumbs Preview format on NICE DOGS http://www.nicedogs.com

To compare, SKANK THUMBS http://www.skankthumbs.com has a combination THUMB PREVIEW sample, where 3 thumbs are displayed from each Cat.

The text Links get greater clicks than the thumbs, towards the top of pagfe.

No....it doesn't need time to open. When you submit your gallery, it automatically grabs a thumb from your gallery.

I do have have a question for you?? Where can I buy decent traffic??

Most dialup users won't see the thumbs then. They'd rollover, the image download would be started, they're roll off, the image would finish downloading and not be displayed. And by then, the dial up surfer has rolled over 50 more links that are all now having images fetched. I'd preload them and have fewer.

i'm going to lay it on the line for you guys - if you want to TARGET dialup surfers - HAVE pics and NOT movie galleries on your site.

try and download a 300K movie with dialup and tell me if you still have any hair on your head left...........
