Considering this:

Acacia actually dismissed several suits, according to Robert Berman, senior vice president and general counsel at Acacia, although he did not name the companies involved in the dismissal and declined to comment if those companies had licensed the DMT technology. The dismissals were "tactical" in nature, he said.

Any ideas what they meant by "tactical" in nature ?

my guess is that they dismissed the 8 lawsuits for the 8 adult companies that settled; whoever those are.

Anyone have the list of 8?

Dismissed is different than settled I'm thinking. They say settled in other areas of the article.

I'm just wondering what it takes to get them to dismiss the case against someone, and call it "tactical".

A good spin doctor or pathological liar, namely anyone speaking to the media on Acacia's behalf.

Tactical could mean anything from 'they were deadbeats and had no money' to 'they weren't really streaming video themselves' etc. I could probably come up with hundreds of potential reasons, it just means Acacia didn't see it was profitable to proceed.

Just like CECash tactically decided to pay the blackmail money.

Ah well a sigh of relief to those who were lucky and got their suits dismissed I guess.
