Why do hosting companies...?
Why do hosting companies charge you for overages but refuse to give you credit if you DO NOT use all of the bandwidth in the plan you prepaid for?
|
thats the whole business plan.
Take Rackshack, they charge you 99 for a server with 700gb bw. Overage is .75/gb If you only use 100gb (my guess is that most of their clients use less than 20gb) they would have to pay you $450 back? Not a good deal for them huh? Thats the same reason you see so few hosts charging avg (50th percentile) on their mbit plans... |
because the majority of host users don't use all their BW..
i'd prefer to pay for what i use at a constant rate. |

A good alternative is to upgrade your bandwidth each month or week and downgrade it if you don't expect a busy month/week. If your host is willing to work with you on this that is.
A little bit of spam: We can do that, you can even pay per mbit (300 gigs) you use. It was said before, not everyone is this flexible. You can contact me. |
