Opera 7.x -- browser for power users
Damn... I just wrote up a nice review and I accidentally closed the window LOL...
In any case the hotlist has totally been revamped -- it teels like a total rewrite and I have no complaints -- the interface is NICE and clean but very pretty. The "Links" tab extracts links from any page -- just type "mpg" to extract all the movie links from a page -- arrow-select and bam you are downloading all of them at once... Now you can leech any page all in one shot -- Opera patiently downloads even from slow servers in the background -- you never have to wait for the "Save-As" window to pop up... This handy feature and the quick-access history tab I think will be very useful to me now... The email interface has been re-written -- now it has filters... And of course there's the handy F12 button -- turn off/on popups, hahahahahahahahahaha, referrers, etc... identify yourself as Opera, Mozilla or MSIE -- default is still MSIE 6.0 I could go on and on, but it's worth a shot just to try it (Opera.com) -- of course you still have Windows explorer on your machine -- it's not going anywhere... but Opera is just faster, tighter code, and you're not treated like a newb -- this is a browser for people that think... MSIE is for the layperson... |
I just downloaded it.
Its fast as hell. 2 questions tho. 1: Every time i load a page i get all the info at the bottom, load speed, % etc. It shows when the page loads and after that it dissapears which makes every page to resize (i dont like too much movement on my screen) how do i turn that off? 2: If i have 3 pages open they show in a seperate taskbar, not the Windows task bar and i find that a waste of screen space. How do i get the program to show it in the Windows taskbar. Thanks wigger. |
somehow Opera 7 is 3 times faster than IE 6.0 :arcadefre

#1, try preferences/toolbars-menus/then there are progress options... #2, Right-click the tabs -- click "off" -- I'm looking to see how to get the windows to show in the Windows bar instead... You can always use the "Windows" tab on the hotlist... which is probably faster than using the taskbar in windows... |
How is Opera in displaying a majority of the websites you go to?
|
Ok, to have a new instance of opera open every time you load a new site (like MSIE) -- go into preferences/windows/open pages in new window... now you will see that new pages get added to your windows taskbar... I think that answers your question...
