After the second cup of coffee we realized that we had forgotten to set the executable bit on the post-image shell script. Also, using textedit didn't create the proper unix style line endings, so we re-did it in bbedit. After doing an "sudo chmod 755 /shellscript.sh" we were able to figure out that using the CP command in a shell script doesn't maintain resource fork info on carbon app documents such as applescripts. We then found out that using the ditto command with a -rsrcFork switch will maintain the extra file data, but your path statements have to be a bit different. Also the netboot image doesn't contain the ditto utility by default, so you'll have to copy it from /usr/bin on another install.
