The latest beta release of AOL allows AOL users to talk with ICQ users. I think they are doing the same thing with AIM also.

Right when I saw that in the beta area of AOL I figured they were looking to eventually phase out ICQ.

So if it's true, charging $10 does go along with this. They obviously are not making money off it right now.

If the big guys (listed above) start charging...

There will be replacement free networks & people will msg everyone on their contact list to let them know about them.
