suing a designer?

i wanna sue a designer for breach of contract, costs for getting the site working properly, and otherwise needlessly taking up valuable space on this planet, the useless s.o.b.

the problem is that i'm in canada and he's in california and the amount is less that $10K US. That's a lot for me.

any suggestions from the board on a) how this could be done or b) how to this could be done with a realistic chance of success would be appreciated.

Sly_RJ 07-02-2003 02:05 PM

He probably doesn't have any money to sue for. Why bother?

You got fucked by a designer. Join the club.

Juicy D. Links 07-02-2003 02:06 PM

you can do more damage here if you expose him and tell us what happened

Yep Yep, losing credibility will hurt his bank account. :glugglug

afrocreep 07-02-2003 02:09 PM

by breach of contract i assume you had a written contract? if thats the case why don't you just sue and don't they have to arrange for local representation as per the typical contract.

Juicy D. Links 07-02-2003 02:10 PM

i need drama

BlueDesignStudios 07-02-2003 02:25 PM

archer: There are many shit / amateur / stealing / lousy designers out there - when they steal, it hurts all designers, it makes clients less confident, which is bad for everyone.

You should expose the designer & let us know who he is :321GFY

LadyMischief 07-02-2003 02:40 PM

Yep, exposure is the best medicine.

Herb Kornfield 07-02-2003 03:50 PM

Dime them out here, that way other webmasters can avoid using this person in the future.

EscortBiz 07-02-2003 04:10 PM

welcome to the club, in the past month over 8 designers lied and cheated me and yes I mean 8

Lately its become a trend where the protfolio on the designers site and the guy who will do your work are two different people

Yes myself and a few others are about to expose these fucks and make sure they never do business in this industry again

archer 07-02-2003 04:13 PM

would that exposure be so easy.

a) the designer is not on this board(sorry if that shocks people :1orglaugh )

b) the company is big and has enough to be sued

c) the company is well connected :( :ak47:

a lawsuit would be relatively private but exposure might end up costing me more than it would cost the company involved....if you take my meaning......

iroc409 07-02-2003 04:16 PM

For $10K.. yea there's a principle at state.

Screw wasting time with the niceties of courts and let him have a "guest" to either collect or leave with multiple jaw breaks...

Fuck all these stupid nobody assholes who cream off folks!

iroc409 07-02-2003 04:20 PM

i don't understand scammers. i mean, yeah, you might make a quick buck for a while. but seriously, when nobody falls for you shit anymore, and everyone wants you dead, what's the point?

Get a lawyers letter sent ASAP. Fuck "exposing" him, that wont get your money back.

If you dont have a lawyer contact me on ICQ(see sig), I could probably refer one to you.

Good luck

They scam us, then when they are caught, create a new site, new nickname, and try again...

Those ppl are not here to stay for years, just some quick bucks

exactly. but those people most likely aren't just going to hang around scamming here. they're going to spread out. and then their own paths start to cross, and eventually it's lights out.

just do it the right way and don't fuck everyone and yourself.

HEARTBREAKER 07-02-2003 04:31 PM

sorry about that mate........but i can't give you a legal advice..:(

OneHungLo 07-02-2003 06:32 PM

I think you can contact a lawyer in the US and take him to court without you being there, also you may be able to get him for it in federal court ...that would be nice :O))

StripperBiz 07-02-2003 06:35 PM

GIVE IT UP

LETS HAVE THE NAME

POST IT EVERYWHERE

IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER SO TRY TO KEEP THE NEXT GUY FROM GETTING SCAMMED

juicybucks 07-02-2003 06:37 PM

that sucks :(

Spunky 07-02-2003 06:37 PM

With so many lawyers out there, they are bound to have offices in the states.Usally the call is free to tell them your story.Usally if it is under 10k it has to go to small claims,so unless you want to go to California to appear, best to let a lawyer start the ground work.
