If they admitted to being amish they would be expunged :thumbsup

skrog 07-02-2003 12:32 AM

I've been to Amish country. Their clocks are off by about 100 years.

I KNOW! that's what makes asking it on a message board FUNNY! mwahahah!

anyways. yeah. so from what i know, they can't use technology and stuff. it's bad and stuff... like electricity. IT REALLY CAN KILL YOU!

so anyways, i'm just curious what decides what technology is "ok" and what isn't (ok, in all seriousness i'd like to know this)? i mean.. i dunno.. just kinda wierd. like, it's a religion and all, but it's like "we're going to stay in this point of time and nobody else exists!"

crazy shit man. i mean, i respect it, but wow, i couldn't imagine that.

imagine this too, all those poor virgin girls, man, tapping that azz has got to be like tapping a volcano. all that pent-up sexual aggression. or am i confusing them, and they don't do things like that?

anyways, yeah, i'm on a tangent. but i'm curious now.

Strife 07-02-2003 12:35 AM

do amish people even have computers???

quiet 07-02-2003 12:36 AM

what would you like to know?

liquidmoe 07-02-2003 12:37 AM

Amish chicks probably dont shave :Oh crap

iroc409 07-02-2003 12:37 AM

imagine that there are people that haven't heard AC/DC in stereo sound! or at all!

dammit, i just want to go start finding amish people. crusading, if you will, to show them the ways of the world.

ok, so i probably won't. i'm done ranting.

but really... who decides what technology is ok?

there are different sects of amish. there are some amish who drive nice cars....it all depends on where they are from.
go to lancaster PA and you will see all different kinds.
it isnt about technology...it's about not needing the things that you and i think we cant live without.
i respect the amish....they are good people.

but....times are changing....the youth are growing up differently. some are leaving...and others have decided they dont want to live that lifestyle anymore.
just last year i think there was a big drug bust here where a couple amish kids were arrested for trafficing kilos of cocaine.
interesting eh?

interesting indeed. i just couldn't imagine living a life that you see all the world drive by, while you're churning butter and all.

it's been a long time since i've been out to pa.

so how did they get to the point that they drive cars and stuff? last time i was out there, driving cars and stuff was way out of question.

lol... crazy. crack hustling amish kids. oy!

i'd not disagree with you saying they're good people. i have nothing against them. just, living in the past like that just perplexes me. then again, i wasn't raised that way

liquidmoe 07-02-2003 12:42 AM

Escobar was Amish. :Graucho

it's up to the men actually....the elders if you will.
i can drive down the road here a few miles and come across several horse and buggies going down the road....but i could also drive the opposite direction and pull up next to an amish couple in a nice car.

oh, and i could imagine living the amish lifestyle. i think it would be peaceful and very content. imagine not having to deal with the worlds bullshit?

until the neighbors start leaving their beer cans in your yard, playing their music too loud, and sicking their rot-weiler on you.

fortunately there's not as many hicks in that area, are there?

If you didnt know about the world then yeah you could be content, but if you knew things like computers, heroine, and shaved chicks existed do you think you would really be happy without ever experiencing any of that?

smack 07-02-2003 12:50 AM

see location. perhaps my friends ezekial and jebidiah could answer your question. just as long as you don't want to take their picture.

no, but come on. these people DO see it. they see the shaved chicks (probably more of them than they want to).. cars driving by.. people on laptops.. cellphones.. i mean, they're not quarantined :)

Exactly, and while for some it may reaffirm their lifestyle, for others of them Im sure its a huge temptation. And dont forget that they are mad religious, so this temptation is tantamount to damnation if they give in to it. Its like a constant struggle between living your boring life or giving in to satan. Thats stress.

but i can say that having experienced all that i have so far, i would be very happy living that lifestyle.

But could you say the same if you never experienced what you had up to this point and were only tempted with it?

Temptation is a crazy thing, sure it may turn out to suck when you actually try it, but while it remains elussive its going to play tricks on your mind.

JDog 07-02-2003 12:57 AM

Haha :1orglaugh :1orglaugh Yea Amish people are on this board! Funniest thing I've heard all morning!

no, i would give in. plain and simple.
i can understand why the amish youth are leaving their parents ways behind, and i feel bad for them.

it might be an incredible temptation, but then again imagine what a change that would be. that alone might be enough to scare them back to their amish life. people resist change.

Perhaps, but then again Im wary of anyone who has ultimate faith in religion. Those kind of people can do some ka-razy shit.

Read survivor by Chuck Palahnuik (Author of Fight Club), not exactly what you mention, but close enough to draw some interesting parrallels.

smack 07-02-2003 01:09 AM
