Does it really go on pageviews? Thats lame. Obviously some sites are more likely to acheive higher pageviews than others just by the nature of their content.

It's because a lot of webmasters use the Alexa toolbar to check their PR.

A site with a high percentage of webmaster visitors (who care about Alexa) will rank higher than an average site.

cause alexa isn't terribly accurate?

only those who install the alexa software are counted. assuming professional webmasters are more likely to install something like that vs joe surfer = inaccurate results.

really? i find most surfers to be complete morons when it comes to anything on the web. millions of surfers that will never install alexa, vs thousands of professionals that might. i'd think that would squew the results pretty badly.
