ok, so i'm sitting here working on this site...
it's a pretty new site, and most of it doesn't look too bad, just the intro page. it's awful. so, i'm rebuilding it for him. got a pretty good idea what i'm doing, but i figure i'd dig around the site more to get a better feel.
this guy has the whole young theme going, which has already got my paranoia meter on high. he swears they're all legal, and for the most part they look like they are. so, ok, cool, and he's got 2257 statements and stuff like that, so it's probably legit. anyways, going through the site and i see the affiliate section. no big deal, give it a quick read, maybe it's got something i might wanna use. and then it hits... he's got 3 banners people can use to push his site at the bottom of the page. they all look pretty nice and stuff, but he's got one banner that has one word on it that's generally used to describe women that aren't of legal age. now i'm thinking get the hell out of dodge before i get too involved. i did one gallery for him, but other than that nothing's been delivered. am i being over-paranoid, or should i just ask him to pull that banner and continue? scares the crap out of me, and i definitely don't want my name attached to anything that's pushed like that, so i've stopped production until at least he pulls that banner... but still, should i just get the fuck out and not look back?? yikes!! dammit :( |
is there something wrong with using buzzwords that catch peoples attention.. hell it caught yours.
"COME SEE SOME OF AGE TEENS, THEY ARE NOT YOUNG WE PROMISE" thats sure gonna bring in the cashola |
hmmm
personally i would walk. if he changes shit for you just so you can finish....what's to say he wont add that shit back later on? |
what a predicament. I'm assuming he's using the word lolita which no matter what some people may argue does NOT describe legal aged teens.
I don't think anyone here can telll you what to do, in the end it'll be your morals that come into play here...nor ours. :) However if it were me, I'd have reservations having my name attached to that banner even if I didn't create it. People who know you designed the site may assume you designed the banners. |
sorry dude, this thread is to long to read
|
What's the word???

ok, recap: i start working on a site, banner has questionable wording to push a "barely legal" type site, should i bail? |

man, i think i gotta bail on this. i just can't have people think i work for stuff like that. it's not like it's a lot of money either. this guy's kinda ubern00b, so i was trying to be nice and kinda help him out. but that's just not cool.

use some common sense and theres nothing to be afraid of. |
Why not just tell him to remove the banner or change the wording? He just might not have a clue that its wrong. While I find that hard to beleive it just might be the case. If he is a stand up guy he will remove the banner and or change the wording. Its worth giving it a shot beofre you bail I would think :)

it starts with an L. i imagine you can figure it out, no need to post it here.

well, see, i have considered that. he doesn't speak english incredibly well, and he's pretty n00bish.. so maybe it was just a misunderstanding from his point. but i haven't seen this on any of his other advertisements, just this one banner... |
Attempt to educate him on his "mistake." His reaction will tell you all you need to know. :2 cents:
|
well, the guy read the thread and promptly removed the banner and any links to it from his server, he just hit me up on icq. his site design was done by someone who i guess doesn't really understand porn, and he made the banners as well. it sounds like it was just a misunderstanding of sorts... so i guess i'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Mommy! He said the "L" word! :1orglaugh
