Teenager tapped village phones to call sex lines

Residents in a Macedonian village are facing phone bills of thousands of pounds after a teen tapped into their phone lines to call sex hotlines.

The 16-year-old, who has not been named, from the village of Nikuljane reportedly broke into telephone junction boxes late at night to use other people's lines.

He was caught after a resident out for a late night walk spotted him moving phone wires attached to a telegraph pole.

One villager told the local paper Vesti: "We've got no money to pay these bills. We're dreading the next ones. Who knows how many of us have fallen victim to his actions?"

Many villagers have written to their local phone company to have calls to sex hotlines barred on their telephones.
