Tech geeks! - answer this you bitches!

On one of my computers I occasionally get the blue screen of death that tells me this:

INVALID_PROCESS_DETACH_ATTEMPT 0x00000006

I've learned that this is usually caused by drivers using improper addresses.

Is there an easy way for me to search and find which drivers are causing this to happen? It doesn't happen very often, but I'd like to fix it if I can.

The strange thing is that it doesn't happen very often, maybe once a week or so.

Please tell me a bit more about your computer...

If I had to gather it would be a graphic card issue, BUT it could be an intergrated device on the mainboard.

This is driver related..

Well, I never said I liked it, but at least it doesn't happen everyday or multiple times a day. Also, it's not my main computer, I have 2 others.

Well, I have a feeling it's a driver issue with one of the things I have installed since getting the computer, and if I had to guess I would say it is either the external CD burner or my digital camera.

Is there a way of searching to see which drivers have conflicts or problems?

Ketadream 06-30-2003 02:51 AM

Both of those are on the USB chain, fairly non distructive area under XP...

I've seen the chain bomb out, but never cause a system fault.
AMD and one motherboard manufacture had a severe issue with the USB line but that was resolved with a bios update.

Sure there are a few things you can do..
Check the system error logs - Admin Tools - Event Viewer
Look for anything with a warning or a stop to give you clues.

You can also go to control pannel - system - startup and recovery and poke around there to get where it dumps the logfile.

what OS are you using and more details about your computer...

I use Windows 2000 Pro and I've never had a blue screen for 3 + yrs.

Sound Card?
Video Card?
Networking Card?

Fire 06-30-2003 03:04 AM

BrownBear.. I can't help you, only have Win XP on the laptop and dont use it much. You might want to try the Pro edition. Maybe there is an XP guru around here that will help you. I'm just guessing but perhaps you could find some help at the MS website.

That motherboard has integrated sound, video, and ethernet that comes with the Intel 865G chipset.

Flash your bios...Intergrated shit is know for being well err shit..(only flash it after reading how and only if you have to)

Download any update packs on the gigabyte website.

Check those system logs for clues..

Also make sure your fans are ok...its a long shot but WEIRD stuff happens when systems overheat

(dust free, spinning properly)

That motherboard was only released about 1 month ago. The 865 chipset is very new.

If you are installing Windows 2000 for the first time, check the Windows 2000 system requirements, including the amount of RAM and disk space required to load the operating system. Also, check the Hardware Compatibility List to verify that the system can run Windows 2000.
