i guess likewhoa is gone for good
i never heard an official announcement..
i think its fucked up to go out like that and not make any public announcement. i have some pretty funny/fucked up stories from the last couple of weeks if anyone still wants to hear them, especially since i got a chance to speak to nick and his father face-to-face as i picked up servers from him. :glugglug |
plz tell.

I worked for LikeWhoa last summer, and got fucked for a good amount of money..
Well, heres the story. I'm sitting outside the new facility (equinix) and nick's dad is there, as well as a few other people, one i recognized, a past employee and NOC technician.. well my friend goes up to nick's dad, and asks about a $1000 check he received that had bounced. Nick, my friend, and his dad argue and bicker about it, apparently nick and his dad are blaming Stan for running away with the company money (which I and everyone else pretty much know is 100% complete bullshit). So my friend asks his dad something along the lines of this- "How can you not pay me, your son is driving around in a brand new CL 55, i had to ask a friend for a ride here" - his dad said something along the lines of "nick and likewhoa have no money, i pay for that car" (they were speaking in russian, i needed someone to translate) :) Anyways, my friend goes to nicks dad "you see that guy over there, nick owes him XX dollars from last summer" so his dad asks me my name, i told him how ive known nick for a while, worked hard for him, and proceeded to explain how I had proof his son did illegal things and the only reason I hadn't dropped a lawsuit yet was because I suspected them of going bankrupt.. i said a lot of stuff to his dad, i told him I saw the PDF file to the VERIO lawsuit, and it was no secret how LWI did business.. well, his dad - this very successful millionaire - had the most stale look on his face, and did not say a word to me, 5 minutes later (we had to go around the building to the loading dock to pick up some servers) i see nick sitting on the curb like a little boy and it looked as if his father was scolding him.. to think this guy was on the board right before all this bragging how much money he had, and abouyt his new CL 55 pissing on me and everyone else who talked shit about him. fucked up shit. oh, and on a side note, last weekend im driving with a friend to go shopping, and nick calls me to let me know if i needed to pick up any boxes, to do so by this past wednesday or else he would be charging a COLO fee, when i asked how much, he said he didnt know, he also told me he wouldnt be doing business under LikeWhoa anymore.. for those of you who didnt know, when they moved into their new facility, they could only deal with one provider from what i hear, it didnt take too long for LikeWhoa's reputation to reach the provider, and they turned him off for one reason or another, and after that, they were pretty much fucked. |
30cents? You need to multiplie that with ten for me ..$3 bucks yesterday..and I think I break that with horse lenghts today.
:2 cents: |

I can't believe you are still thinking about them. I was hosted there and I was trying to move my sites before they finally folded. When your host stops answering emails then it's time to haul ass in a hurry. Don't ever make that mistake again. You're right though, they should have emailed an annoucenment or posted on some boards. At least you got your servers so that's one bright spot. We all lost our money though, I was only a couple days into my new billing cycle. I guess that's why they bolted so I couldn't ask for a refund. So tell us your stories. |
there is SOOO much more though, you guys dont even want to know :)

you guys shouldve seen his dad's face when i told him how i tried calling the office to resolve the situation, but i would always get excuses that he had just left the office..
so i tried calling on friday afternoons when i knew he was doing jack shit, got the same excuses.. then i would ask some friends who still worked there, and they would tell me that he was playing video games in the other room.. is that a slap in the face or what? |
In my sig!
please do it :) |
Thats fucking funny Biggy..more plzzz

Sad ending to the story. Like Whoa (minus the mistakes) had a ton of potential. It could have been a monster.

When I signed up with likewhoa I was like "I finally got a place to leave my sites and let them grow".
I thought it's time to focus on other things now and then BAM!!! I was fucked. Man was I ever in the dumps. So I feel ya. |
alright. this is pretty fucking funny, well not funny for the employees.
from what i hear..nick took a trip to hawaii semi-recently with his girlfriend (the company problems were imminent at the time) -- they went to hawaii. apparently nick withdrew funds from the company account while he was on the trip, this was at a time where employees were owed money, and were working while owed money. how fucked up is that, to owe your employees money, and then to withdraw money from the company account while on vacation (not to mention he had a partner). yo nick, your vacation i guess was apparently more important than people paying their rent and food bills. I also want to mention most of the people who worked in the office weren't well off by any means, which makes this shit 100X worst, since they truly did need the money! |
gee, now why doesnt it surprise me that the providers were never paid..
paybacks a bitch. this fuck was on the board boasting about his CL 55 and how much money he had, i wish i had his dad saying how he paid for the CL 55 on tape. nothing but a pimp wanna be fucking wanksta. the more i listen to that song by 50 cent, the more i think about this little bitch.. download it "Wanksta" - by 50 cent, for those who don't listen to hip hop :) |
What a sleaze bag. I'm sure he'll be back with some other business most likely another hosting business.
He'll find some sucker to become his partner so they can get a provider. He'll be a silent partner who spends the cash while everyone else starves lol what a pig. |
Keep feeding us.. MORE!
|
He came to Hawaii! Damn!!! I live in Hawaii.
You mean I had a chance to kick his ass and missed it. DAMN!!! |
true wanksta. :321GFY
|
the truth is, this is only SOME of the stuff.
the former employees who worked there longer could probably tell you more. i wish stan, dennis, ben or any of those guys would come here and post some fucked up stories about nick :helpme where the fuck is herb kornfeld when you need him?! |

Could you provide us with an overview of the LikeWhoa facility. How many boxes did they own and operate. what was the capacity of the boxes. Routers? Switches? Location(s) etc. I use the same control panel and hosting management system for my own in house hosting, as they did. |

i waited in the parking lot until they brought them out. in some cases, it took hours. |

Probably sleeping and in phillie. Funny how nick is trying to blame stan for the downfall of LW, i know stan and nick both and that's complete bullshit, nick was the mastermind of the whole show, stan was basically along for the ride. I met nick and stan at a carwash in brooklyn about 5 years back, this is when they first started up likewhoa, i went to LW office and chatted with them, i wondered how this young kid who was probably 17 or younger at the time had so much money for what he was going to take on. If i recall he was telling me his father was very well off and made his fortune through banking or a construction buisness. It's a shame because as some one else said this thing could of been a monster! if it was run right. I wonder how much money nicks father dumped into this thing before he finally pulled the plug after nicks gross mismangement? quarter of a million or more? |
i remember sitting here over the last couple of months, near the end, seeing him post on the boards boasting about how much money he had and about his CL 55.
and to think, the whole time his dad was paying for it. thats fucking hilarious, hey nick - i could be driving a CL 55 too, if my dad was willing to buy me one.. but then again, why would he want to do that? so i can end up like you :) little spoiled kid pissing all my dad's money away.. |
rule #1: if you donīt pay your bills ... oh well wonīt take long until we find out his new company name, guess he will last as long as necrohiphop.com !!
|
what a scum bag...hope all his future ventures bomb like like whoa

did these guys have a half rack of servers, located in someone elses colo/data center or did they have their own location. quarter of a mil is a hefty figure to launch a "hosting company", as many here know that most hosting companies launch for a fraction of that amount. please provide a more complete overview of their network operation. I feel sorry for anyone who lost in their departure from the host arena. Can someone confirm if they were still using the H-Sphere Control panel during their final days. |
From what I've read it sounds like they bounced around from rented colo cage to rented colo cage until the past caught up with them.
|
Thanks Snowone.
I'm no financial whiz, but quarter mil sounds like $$ hype, if all they have to show is a rented colo cage. Maybe the gentleman who used to work there will share an overview/inventory of what they really had to work with. |
Im tired.... like whoa

I have been in their Manhattan facility before. I must say that the place was pretty sweet as far as datacenters go. It was the perfect east coast style place - no overpriced bullshit cappuccino style rackmount shit - they had the exact equipment they needed to run a solid stable datacenter. It wasn't fancy and it was definately not ghetto - and to be honest, if I ran a hosting facility, I would probably have mine look very similar to theirs, including very similar equipment.
They had a LOT of hosting customers there. I was surprised when I got there to see exactly how big their place was. They had a couple rooms and some cages at Network Plus. Seriously, I have been in many datacenters in my life and I think theirs was at the time the single most efficient and well supported system I had run across to date. We spent many months there blissfully happy - until the Verio hell started. But not many people know this, and if you don't, think about it. Verio is a REALLY bad provider. I have had them in several datacenters as well as a T1 in my house, and the only thing historically worse than their service was their billing. Their service has been pretty stable lately, but their billing department just went off the deep end - something major is happening over there and it seems that they REALLY want to get paid for the service WELL in advance of the service being provided. This is scary. I don't know what's going on over there but it can't be good. People aren't using less bandwidth in 2003. Every year, more people buy broadband, people need more hosting, and global data throughput increases. I don't understand how they're not banking on this. I think GBLX is really ripping into the other big backbones. And that's a good thing. If you can't compete, fix things. In Verio's case I think the network is better because they have less usage this year, so they have fewer problems. And I think they're drowning in stupidity. |
