Car question...need a man!
An ex-bf owed me more money than he could repay me, so he signed his 1993 FireHawk over to me. It is #127, has just under 100,000 miles on it. I have put a few thousand in to repairs in to it but I would REALLY prefer to have a less...well...manly car. It makes me feel like a bull-dyke driving it and I am DEFINITELY more lipstick *giggle*
I tried looking it up on www.kellybluebook.com but they do not LIST the FireHawk, only FireBirds. Where can I find the approximate value of this car so I can trade it in for something more...me? <IMG SRC="http://www.kaylacam.com/speaktome/images/smiles/littleangel.gif"> |
I don't know where to tell you to look, but to sell it to someone other than a car dealer you could probably get at most $10,000 for it in great condition.

I WANT a Saturn Vue, in Silver grey, with the leather interior... |
FireHawk is a tuner car... but with that many miles its only worth a little over what a TransAm in the same condition would be worth.

Another question comes to mind, why would you even mess with the type of guy who drove that car? |
Maybe I would do better to sell it on the FireHawk site?

Man i wish my firebird was a firehawk

There's all kinds of enthusiast sites for all kinds of different cars... do a search on google, try to find those sites.. most of them have classified sections.. Go read them and try to find a vehicle with similar specs to yours, and then list it at an average of several ads (somewhere in the middle of all of them). You should be able to move it then.

OMFG! Found a site that lists my car!!!
"This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior paint, trim, and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. Most usable "as-is". Under these circumstances, pricing is: MSRP Original Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price when new N/A Low Retail Average Retail High Retail Base Price $11,650 $14,950 $18,100 " That Low Retail is FINE with me! I just want $10,000 for it as a trade so I can finance the other $10,000 and get my Saturn Vue!!! |

Stop fixing on the car.
If you don't like a car then get rid of it as soon as possible. Hanging onto it and waiting for the "best" price can make you miss the best price on whatever you want to buy. If someone doesn't buy it for cash soon then just trade it in and get out of it. Go to a dealership in a friends car and get a quote sheet on the car you want to buy at the price that you would buy it for and let them submit the credit app. Then tell them you want to think about it. DON'T tell them you have a car to trade. Keep a copy of the price quote. Then call the sales guy a day or two later on the phone and tell them you want to buy that car at that price and you will be in today to get it. Then you show up in the firehawk and tell them you need $10,000 for it. If they don't do it then don't buy the car. Let 'em sweat for a week and see if they call you back. hehehehe! works like a charm. |

I don't know the firehawks too well, but they should come with bigger sway bars, (ws6?) and other suspention upgrades.
I think it still has the same LT1 engine, and same cam as the normal line of firebirds/camaros/trans ams. 93 is a 4th gen F-body, and I only know 3rd gens... Kaylacam, I do know it is worth more than a normal firebird. Not many are made each year. |
