Staying on the cutting edge: (My annual rant)
Headless and pornjester have permission to reprint/republish in any way they see fit. Anyone else, please contact me first.
Being as this is coming from a primarily designer's perspective, it may be somewhat skewed in that direction, however base principles still apply regardless of specific field and I will attempt to refrain from bias as much as possible. And here we are. It's 2003 dead center. Whether you're new or carry a veteran badge, unless you're in a cave you are starting to know that the dynamic is changing more rapidly than ever before. What am I talking about? I'm talking about the marketing dynamic and your overall business approach. You better be learning to adapt faster than ever before because things have changed. Used to be it took a year or two for major shifts in marketing strategy to occur. Now it's happening in a matter of months, sometimes weeks. What worked last January probably isn't working now. The surfers aren't necessarily getting smarter as much as they're becoming numb. The inundation of reality tv crossing over to reality Internet is bombarding the end user with more scenarios and information than ever before. And if you don't have your thumb on it TODAY, you're yesterday's news. The Age of Innovation has been reborn. Yes we all copy, yes we all immitate. But the gravy train is over folks. You need to find a new well of ideas and fast. He who hesitates is lost. And as you know, there's very little room for second place in this biz, and virtually no room for 5th or 6th place. Attack while it's fresh. If you're afraid of failure, you've already failed. There are risks involved. New ideas never come with a guarantee, so dismiss what the encyclopedia salesman promised you. You have to step to the edge, look down, and raise your finger in defiance. This is the only path worthy of taking. There are other paths, but they generally fall to the mediocre. And the mediocre are always whining about "their best". "I did my best..." Fuck your best. In this game, you win or you lose or you manage to barely get by while on your way to the losers tent to share in the grape KoolAid Sulk Fest. Refine your thought patterns folks. The time was last week. There's only room for so many on the cutting edge. If you wanna be there, you gotta fucking earn it. AMp |

Boy have you got that right. Talk about numb...Every girl is a tight virgin teeny that we've got exclusive rights to. Haha.
As a matter-of-fact, you may just have inspired me to start something I've been thinking about too. I was waiting for that "saturation" point where no one is paying attention to the mainstream any longer, and I believe you're right-it's here. |
my nipples are hard.

you're on the cutting edge of washed up homo

You forgot the part about the sunscreen... "Everybodies free"

Thank you Amp... It is going up on weboverdrive.com as we speak.
This was why I always wanted you to write for us. Yes you might talk the shit, bring the rukas with your own headless style, but there is more substance up in that ol jug of yours then most gfy's. And for anyone who says I am kissing ass... Go FUCK yourself now instead of later! Dude... You should write more often.... |

mmmm...... not entirely. I mean, in the end it all comes down to some form of porn or other stimulation. The presentation, or "ad" or "commercial", which is your outside site, is the ultimate debate. How you sell your product is the final point. The product isn't changing much.... sure there's weird shit... farting, shitting, pissing, whatever.... the base product is carved. The wrapper is the dynamic. The "reality" wrapper may be a fad (and I agree with that.... everything is a fad to some degree)... but that IS your market. You sell what's hot, WHILE it's hot. If you're not doing that, you're not in the game. You can look at long term all you want, but if you're not selling TODAY.... you're not selling today. |
Nothing ever changes, nothing ever stays the same.
Someone bump this thread is a year, you'll see I'm right. |

Announcing my new reality site...
"The Bang Unicycle" We cruise down the streets of miami (with my camera man on a skateboard following me) and we pick up chicks and have sex with them while attempting to ride a unicycle... Fox TV says.. "Combining the best of a circus and the bang bus, The Bang Unicycle gives the viewers a ride and a rise they will never forget" In a similar story Porn Mogul Ketadream was sued today by a disgrunteled x-model who was forced to preform sexual acts while ballancing on a unicycle... Her law suit includes damages incurred after a fall and the mental anguish of landing on a clown Dont ask me where the hell I came up with this... |

So I gave up ranting like this on a regular basis..... I get better results smacking myself in the forehead with a ballpeen hammer. But when the mood strikes me, it's usually gold. Doesn't happen often, but it still happens. People like Captain Dumbass up there tend to kill inspiration though. Makes me ask myself, why bother. Anyhow.... you always got first dibs on anything I DO write bro.... that's the least I can do for you since I bailed on the assignment way back. |

The idea of innovation also applies to diatribes such as this, what Amp has stated here is merely the unimaginative obvious. It could be applied to any business since the start of time and could have been written at any moment in that timeline.
Amp implies that business models need to alter at the speed of thought in order to survive the Internet marketing paradigm, but in case you have not noticed there is no Internet marketing paradigm. Unlike bricks and mortar businesses that have thousands of years of axiomatic practice to draw marketing strategies from the Internet is still the wild Wild West. Why is it that the planets most successful marketing machines , Sony for example, are seemingly terrified of the Internet, and until very recently did not even sell there own products online, now that they do what is it they offer, an off the shelf shopping cart. So I would suggest not taking Amp?s epiphany at its word but instead keep an eye on the bottom line because it is your pocket book that will ultimately give you your very own set of Internet marketing axioms. |

Refer to my first post, then :321GFY |
innovation can go both ways, it can benefit you and the industry, or it can damage it. all depends on the idea in my opinion. ie: traffic trading scripts. i noticed once everyone and their dog started using these in their free sites, conversions dropped dramatically and haven't been the same since. of course conversions seem to drop every year but man, those scripts make for some shitty traffic if you ask me.
anyhow, my little rant aside, new ideas are always needed and yes we all must be able to adapt in order to stay profitable, however sometimes new ideas are all about money today, and not focusing enough on tomorrow. |

is your own life so goddamned sad and worthless that you feel compelled to make ridiculous comments like this in a desperate attempt to make yourself "feel" better? how truly miserable it must be when you lay your head down at night... and even worse when you wake up and nothing has changed. |
