Lakers trade Kobe Bryant

That would be the most fucked move if they ever do that. Talk about killing the team. I know there's many Kobe haters out there but Shaq can't carry the team alone.

I heard on ESPN that Kobe is saying he'll exercise an out clause after next season, but this thread is jumping the gun.

If Shaq doesn't get his ass in shape, the Lakers should dump him. Kobe's younger, better to keep him to build around.

Shaq's awesome when he can move, but if he cant jump more than once, he should retire and drive his cars.

Mojo Rizin 06-27-2003 05:25 PM

Kobe has said for over 1 year that he was going to opt out of his final year... So thats no big news for anyone who follows him and the Lakers.

For whatever reason the latest round of reports fail to include the statement he also said about wanting to stay a Laker for life..

Shaq seems to have a shitload of rides to choose from. I saw him with a Bently or RR, as well as a big ass SUV, and a pick up truck on MTV. If I am not mistaken, I think he also owns an auto customizing shop, as well.

Kobe made the "free agent" announcement a year in advance to give The Lakers a year to figure out how they can afford Shaq AND Kobe... that's a lot of "bling bling" to payout.

Lakers have the best option of any team available of re-signing Kobe.

Dr. Buss is far from short on money and the Lakers can match ANY offer that is made.

If Kobe leaves it will not be about money because he will not be able to make any more money anywhere else but with the Lakers.

Really? how so? I sure see a lot more commercials showing kobe than shaq....Also, who really wants to see a big black ugly negro with no personality who talks in monotone pushing products?

How many commercials did you ever see Patrick Ewing in? I even heard him on tv complain once because he didn't get enough endorsements....Patrick Ewing looked like an Ape...My ex-wife always referred to him as "Godzilla"....

It's not really about talent....it's about talent AND looks along with a good personality...If you don't have all of it, you won't be getting the big endorsement..

But who pepsi picks to be in that commercial would be indicative of who is more marketable...and if you're more marketable, you'll bring in more ticket buyers for the stands and more viewers on television...And THAT is what would make the team money.

Its more of a bargaining position strategy. Kobe digs the limelight and LA has it. Question is, would he want to stay or would he not oppose a trade?

69pornlinks 06-27-2003 09:05 PM

Kob just wants more rings, and prolly just frusrated they lost this year. the lakers would not trade Kob,and i doubt he sign with another team.

but then again he may try to go to grizzles and be with West becase they are buidling..if the lakers don't win it next year i think he would go to the grizzles

I'll give ya 2 HotDogs and an old Michael Jackson 8 Track for him!

kad 06-27-2003 11:27 PM

Kobe pheers LaBron.

Mutt 06-27-2003 11:28 PM

they have a dicey future in L.A., Shaq's health will continue to go downhill, nobody really knows what Kobe wants - he could want to go to a team where it would be all him. They should think about trading Kobe for Iverson. Then when Shaq retires and his huge money comes off their cap they will be able to get a superstar big man to replace Shaq.

NBA fame is all about looks, hops and charisma. I dont think Kobe has much charisma, listen to him when he talks, close your eyes, sounds exactly like Jordan, he mimics him. Iverson has the charisma and Nike is betting 90 mil that Lebron has it.
Vince Carter had it and lost it bigtime. Sad that an amazing basketball player and all round good guy like Tim Duncan is virtually ignored by America. Gotta be a thug or a jackass to be a superstar these days.

Why 06-27-2003 11:35 PM

oh shut up!

Pornwolf 06-27-2003 11:42 PM

I think Lebron is going to be a HUGE disappointment!

Kobe will not leave LA. Shaq will leave LA before Kobe. The league needs him in LA. Merchandise and television revenue will take too big of a dive if he left that crown jewel city. We saw what happened during the championships this year. He also just signed a Nike contract. Watch his starpower increase 25%. L.A. till he's on his downward path.

Nasty D 06-28-2003 12:19 AM

Shaq is getting fat

pimplink 06-28-2003 02:02 AM

Smart and incisive post.

Bottomline is nobody wants to be the driver...albeit well paid and glamorous...of a losing garbage truck. And winning 3 championships back to back does tend to elevate a person's expectations level.

With people being people...they tend to blame others for their failures than blame themselves.

This drama still has some life left in it.
