I am thinking of getting one, but I am alergic to the fur. I start itching and shit. Are there any shots I can take that can prevent it?
|

its not fur people are allergic too.
most dogs have hair anyways. its the dander there are a few breeds which have very little dander such as the portuguese water spaniel. |

I have a doggy. He's cool. |
There are dogs that have fur that tends to not affect those who are ellegic to typical dog fur. I have a weaton terrior, and they are suppost to be good for people who are even ellergic to dogs.. they dont shed either.
|
Get an American Pit. Terrier. best breed in the world.

Talk to your doctor. I've seen a bunch of pills advertised lately for allergies, including pets.
Hardwood floors & an air purifier would be a big help too. Don't let the dog in the bedroom either. Keeping yourself dog-free for 7 or 8 hours a night will make a difference. Other than that, they say just make sure you get the dog bathed frequently. If you have outdoor allergies, dogs can end up bringing a lot of that kind of stuff (pollen etc.) inside with them. Good luck! |
A lot of the Terriers have hair instead of fur. I have a Cairn Terrier and have no troubles w/ allergies.

Poodles also have hair instead of fur -- no allergens! Plus poodles come from teacup size to standard.
I am allergic to cats and dogs but for some reason the short-haired dogs bother me most. We have a husky and her fur is EVERYWHERE -- she spends a lot of time in our bed too (no, not in THAT capacity) -- but I have no allergic reaction to her (unless she licks my face and that gives me a rash). Phew! I don't think washing the dog will help if you're allergic though. I spent a week with a friend who has two beautiful greyhounds -- very short hair, freshly washed . . . and I was in misery sneezing, etc. Good luck on your dog search -- they bring much happiness (again, not in THAT capacity)!! |
Standard poodles are a great dog

you can go to www.petfinder.com, that is an adoption agency and they do have pugs (baby ones) for adoption. i was surfing the site last night. funny you mention a french bulldog cause a colleague of mine wants one. im thinking of maybe getting a rott in a year or so once these two are a bit more mature. it would be quite comical to see two pugs put, what will amount to, a 130lb dog in its place :) before i forget, if you are going to get a pug, you have to be around it all the time. if you work a day job, then forget getting one cause these are owner dogs. they require attention in a way like no other dog! |

There are several brands of drugs that you can take once a day to combat allergies......
You might also consider a non-allergenic dog. There are several breeds out there. |
I'm fairly allergic to dogs and cats too, and own one of each, just make sure to wash my hands after I pet them so I don't start to itch.
And I don't let them hang out on the sofa or furniture... the dog has his own blanket he gets bundled in on the foot of the bed at night, which gets washed every few days. |

Fuck that, though. a dog's personality is mostly in the genes. I gotta have a lab or no dog at all. Fucking little shitsui yapping bastards can go to hell. |
Get a yorkshire terrier - they're "fur" isn't really fur - it's hair. I'm not sure how that works with allergies, but they rarely shed.
There are also about a bizillion commercials about medication for pet allergies - if you really one that bad, dose up! :) |
can't go wrong with a pug...we have one. He 's always at the office smelling the porn chicks that walk in. If you can take care of a dog, then get a dog but don't leave it by itself all day at home. just a thought.
|
A sharpie Will work They don't have fur...
I think thats a typ-o They run 600-1200 per dog..White ones cost more but have a Defect in there DNA causes them do die faster. |
I am allergic to dogs/cats myself.. With cats being the worse of the two...
So when it came time to get a dog we went with a beagle because they produce less dander then a lot of the other dogs out there... Worked out great... Yeah my allergies kicked in for a few days, but once I got used to it, everythjing was a ok! |
get a staffy
http://www.akc.org/images/breeds/stbult.jpg or an english bull terrier http://www.angelfire.com/mi/migomgom/images/bull.jpg cool dogs and they are good around kids |
I'd have a look at greyhounds, whippets, salukis, and my personal favorite, Italian greyhounds.
They have so little coat on them it's almost like the weird hairless dog above. They are high maintenance dogs tho, but once you've got them trained, they are the best! |

In addition, Pugs are VERY high maintenance dogs in both money and time, so if you're not big on spending money on pets, don't get one. :) There are hundreds of Pug Rescue groups in the US. I work with the one here in GA and it's amazing how many owners turn them after buying one and then realizing the upkeep. But IMHO, they are the GREATEST dogs!!! |
