Good places to stay in New York?
I'm gonna be there for a couple of nights, any recommendations for a nice hotel under $200 a night?
|
This is where I've stayed the past few trips down. I'm not positive but I think rooms were under $200, and a lot bigger than any other room you might get for that price. It's a brand new hotel and it's right in the heart of Times Square.

Anyone got anything else before I make reservations? |
the best is to find a place for free
i stayed at my ex gf's apartment last week :Graucho |
Check the Ian Schrager hotels too...they have a few. From my experience...they're nice, but the rooms are too small for my liking. If you want to be somewhere other than Times Square...you might find out that suits you.

By far the coolest hotel in New York, and a well kept secret, is the Helmsley Windsor right below central park.
You can get a whole fucking suite for like $150, less than the pussy sized rooms for $200 across the street. Reason is, its kind of faded. Not updated recently (maybe 40 years!), no restuarant, etc. Much nicer than some chic new place in my opinion... I stay there every trip to NYC. |

New Yorker was not bad, but Chelsea hotel rules! Rats, dirt and lots of fun!
|
Im also going at the end of July.
Im looking for extra-cheap, just not a dirty rat nest, any recommandations? |
Extra cheap? Hmm...
Click here - that's theonly hotel I would recommend for under $100 a night. If you don't mind hostel type shared bath situations you can get rooms for as low as $65 by checking www.hoteldiscounts.com Sharing anything in NYC could be a bit risky though.:2 cents: |

That hotel you listed, rooms are 121$. And id definitely would like my own bathroom ;) |
That's strange Dr. Guile. I'm looking at the reservation page now and I see $89.95. Click here to see what I see.
Snowpimp, here's a few other great hotel deals at Pornwolf approved hotels; The Flatotel ($161.00) - Most record companies put their executives and artists here for extended stays. The Time ($129.00) - Easily one of the coolest new hotels with a very hot bar! The Parker Meridian (189.00) - Another entertainment industry favorite. Great rooms and location as well as some great macadamia nut pancakes! You can't go wrong with any of the hotels on the www.tablethotels.com site but only a few are under $200 a night... but they are incredible. If you want a room and hotel to really live it up in then go to The Hudson like Drunkdollars. You will never have to leave the hotel to gt the NY experience. The rooms are definitely small and stylish but they are made for sex. You'd have to see them to understand. Tablet Hotels has the best price at $145 I believe:glugglug No, I'm not a travel agent. I travel a lot and I especially like to see people have fun when they travel to NY. All New Yorkers are like this. |
personally i always go to the waldorf, not cheap but great park view :winkwink:

this thread is still alive! lol, yes, i booked two nights at the westin, location, price, high speed access were a factor, but also the fact that it just looks like a fun, fresh hotel and it came recommended. Thank you all for your advice. I've definitely bookmarked that www.tablethotels.com site for future trips.

Where ever you stay, do this one night:
Go to the 8th floor of the marriot at timessquare to the lounge with the windows facing times square. You get the best NY view and some good drinks are very reasonable prices. Trust me, you´ll love it there :) |
check out Park Central Hotel
http://hotelparkcentral.com/ We stayed there last year during Thanks giving. it's right next to Carnegie Deli and right across the street from Carnegie hall. You can't beat the location and price. We loved it. FYI - we originally checked in at the westin times square that was mentioned above. I love westin hotels, but that was shit for the price. The rooms were too small and at the time they were still doing construction on the hotel. pure crap. |

The room wasn't huge but it was fuckin' nice AND the service was phenomenal as usual. Also, the "Blue Fin" restaurant was the bomb ... Incredible sushi and an unbelievable lobster and clam chowder! |
