Happening Beneath Your Nose - Teachers get OK to carry weapons

Every day the prison-state gets closer.

*******************************

Teachers get preliminary OK to carry weapons

The Jordan School Board gave preliminary approval Tuesday to a policy outlining the conditions under which district employees may carry a concealed weapon on school property with a valid permit.
Employees must keep the weapon concealed and employees who legally use a concealed weapon on school grounds do so in their individual capacities, not their scope of employment.
The Jordan board will formally vote on the policy at its July 16 meeting.
Both policies are in response to a law passed during the 2003 legislative session, Senate Bill 108, that harmonized conflicting parts of state code. One section allowed concealed weapons on school campuses, while another prohibited it.
Also Tuesday, the board agreed to consider a policy that would not allow student travel overseas, to Canada or to Mexico unless a principal can demonstrate "the absolute necessity of the travel and that all appropriate safety considerations have been addressed."
"I would hate to see students lose an opportunity because the policy is so rigid," said David Stoddard, the district's administrator who wrote the policy.
The travel policy also will be up for a formal vote at the July 16 meeting.

Christ, it's a sad day when teachers feel the need to carry guns to school. :helpme :helpme :helpme

eroswebmaster 06-26-2003 09:57 AM

Wouldn't it be sweet some kid decides today is judgement day, he pulls out a pistol and 2 or 3 teachers open up on his punk ass.

future columbine wannabes just might rethink this ;)

liquidmoe 06-26-2003 09:59 AM

This could work in reverse. A teacher gets fed up with the low pay, large class rooms, noisy kids and decides to just randomly start picking off kids in school.

The solution is more guns, its no guns. If no one had guns then who the fuck would shoot you ? Odd reasoning eh? :Graucho

to believe at this stage of the game that there would be no guns out there is just foolish, sorry but it's a sad fact of our existence here in the states.

It was an absolute joy to read this post. Thanks man.

People's brats are dangerous nowadays, kids are more out of control than ever. Talk to any teacher anywhere, it's true. Taking away the power of discipline in schools was the stupidest idea in history.

gothweb 06-26-2003 10:02 AM

I don't know what is stupider, the guns for teachers policy, or the no international travel for students policy. Both fly in the face of civilization, freedom, and eduction.

Second only to giving them the power to discipline with a Glock.

It's a good thing. Especially for college students. I believe every woman in college should be packing, both students and faculty. Here in my state it is illegal for people to are licensed to carry and conceal a firearm to go anywhere onto school or university property with a firearm. Also, if I am picking up my kid at thier high school and they have an ex boyfriend or internet stalker after them I would prefer to be able to escort her to and from school armed. It's not a likely scenario, but that stuff happens to kids these days.

I agree but I can dream. Plus its not exactly like its a utopian ideal, there are nations out there where guns are outlawed its just that the US isn't one of those nations.

But Im gald that GFY doesnt encourage violence and/or guns. :BangBang: :ak47: :1orglaugh

All gun rhetoric aside on both sides of the issue...this is exactly what has created the problems in schools.

Teacher's have 0 power and kids know it.

Also this bullshit that kids have a right to education. Well I take that back kids do have a right to an education, kids who aren't constantly disruptive, kids who aren't necessarily in school because it's part of the terms of their probation, etc.

Parent's stopped taking responsibility for their little "angel's" behavior, but don't want someone else to step up to the plate and take care of it for them either.

Move to Nevada. It's an OPEN CARRY state.

Yes that's right. Purchase a gun, register it and you can carry it openly in a holster on your hip.

The only thing you can't do is conceal it unless you have a concealed handgun permit.

No, the glock isn't for discipline..... today's children are way beyond that. The glock is for self-defence. Hello?

yeah... only guns are capable of killing a person. knives, chainsaws, vehicles, lead pipes, poison, baseball bats, bombs, strangulation, etc. all just hurt but don't neccessarily kill anyone.
