Barking beagle...
Ok my beagle had ligament surgery this afternoon. Got home about 3 pm est... Hasn't stopped barking since. Everything that normaly works hasn't and I am about to go crazy!
Anyone have this done to their dog before? Any suggestions? Please HELP!!!!!!! |
That must suck. Our neighbor's had a beagle and it had the most obnoxious howl/bark i've ever heard.

Beagles are insane. He won't stop until whatever is bothering him stops. If that happens to be pain in his leg, you'll just have to wait. You can see if you can distract him by playing ball with him or something but that's about it, I think.

Yeah it does really bad.... It's none stop. Jerky, ice cream, all the works aint helping. He has gone to the bathroom, so that aint it.
The doc said he gave him ketamine... So he might be halucenating... |
He cant move... It was the ligament in his knee... So he is not allowed to do shit... He can't even walk... All he is doing is laying there barking...

Ketamine can cause excessive barking, so that may very well be it, but I'd be sure that it's not due to pain. Does it sound like he's in pain? Just like parents do with their kids' cries, a lot of times pet owners can tell the differences in their pet's bark/howl. Do you think by listening to him that it sounds like he's hurting? I guess you've called the vet already about it, but if he's still doing it and you think he's hurting, I'd call him back. If it's bad enough, he might give you something to help relax him a little bit. With a cruciate ligament repair, he's gonna have to remain still and calm for awhile. It's almost harder to have your pet sick than a family member cause they can't tell you what's wrong or where it hurts. :(

It's not pain, its more of a repetative bark. One right after the other for 10 minutes until he takes a gasp for air... On the calm and still thing... As he is barking he sometimes tries to move himself around, but if he puts any pressure on the leg he screams... Thanks again... I really do appriciate the words... |
