Is Thumb Preview traffic worth less or more?
We're going to be accepting thumb preview traffic soon (since we already do the CJ style generic links and most recently, static described, but dynamically updating links)..
So, it's occured to me - before I put this new extension into operation - is there a chance that thumb preview traffic is worth LESS than normal tgp traffic? Here's the scenario: You get a specially picked thumb of one of a set of given sizes.. It's still filtered for proxy and junk traffic. Is that click worth more or less than a click on a standard TGP link? Anyone have any data on this? I know a good thumb preview link PULLs better, but does it convert any different? |
depends on the site. I'd be willing to bet a thumb preview gallery on sleazydream does a LOT better than most of these other blind circle jerk sites out there..............

Will the thumb match the gallery?

my guess would be that it would be worth more.

Its been my experience that it converts better. I think this is because people are clicking on a thumb that entices them so there is a better chance they will like content in your gallery.

Interesting. I guess we'll see. ;> I'll have to get my shit together and start programming this up.

Hmm, so are you guys serving the thumbs? The fundamental problem with sending traffic from a thumb preview to a gallery broker is that the list of paid galleries will always be changing. That's why I asked about the matching. Since they do match, I would say the value would be higher than a text link. How many surfers click on an interesting description, then close the gallery because they don't like the look of the girl? |
Maybe the thumb preview sites are productive with themselves, but in my experience they are'nt very good at all.

But ya I understand the issue. It hasn't been done yet, primarily because if it gets big it'll be a huge amount of bandwidth. However, to offset that we're not going to allow the use of ALL our thumbs - so you'll never see a page with 100 spotbrokers thumbs.. That'd be dumb on our side. There will be a (small) limit to the amount of our thumb spots you can place on a page. To Spunky1: Well productivity is a different issue than conversion. Productivity is about traffic, which I don't give a rats ass about. If the traffic converts, that's all I care about. |
depends on the site - I would guess you will be very busy weeding out unproductive sites from your program.
