machineg and Mystery Man- please forward me the spam email you received from one of our affiliates so we can look into it further.

As you can see by the reply regarding our remove list, we also have specific terms that all email advertising accounts are required to abide by and any accounts that violate these terms are supsended.

Yeah, forward the spam complaints to the company that allows spamming, stupid. Don't post it publicly and give them a bad name for, uh, allowing spam.

If Topbucks and other sponsors took the cash out of spam it would be gone.

Debating whether or not a broken remove link is important is ridiculous. Each surfer is faced with hundreds of different remove links to different stolen lists. It is impossible to be removed from all mailings.

If a program like Topbucks allows mailings they should only use verified opt in addresses (the client opts in at the Topbucks web site), and then provide that list only to affiliates.

Allowing these guys to police their own lists of stolen addresses is asking for trouble.

Quentin 06-23-2003 03:30 PM

To clarify, we do not allow spam, period. We do allow valid email promotions via opt-in lists, provided that the webmaster/company sending the mail adheres to our terms - see
http://www.topbucks.com/remove_list/README.txt - and filters against our global remove list.

If you receive unsolicited email promoting our sites, simply forward it to [email protected] and we will see to it that the spammer's account is terminated, and their sales revenue forfeited.

Why 06-23-2003 04:02 PM

this is really a tough issue.

they do allow bulk emailing, but at least they are forcing people to go by certain rules, which at least adds some sort of structure to it all. however, it is hard for them to catch all the cheaters. so instead of bitching, why dont you help them catch those that are forging headers, and stealin gbandwidth? instead of attacking them?

and as far as bitching at her to cancel accounts. maybe you pissed in her cheerios and thats why she canned your ass? try being a little nicer when you get pissed and dont piss people off in the heat of the moment. only time i been cancelled i called the fuckers up, asked why, and then told them they can tell me in vegas to my face why they broke a deal saying i could mail for them. consequentially they paid me. i didnt threaten just told them that was fucked to walk out on a previous business deal because some fuck tard bitched.

a lot of you are NOT mailers, so you dont know WTF is going on in this particular part of the game. mail headers are sooo fucking easy to forge and then report to sponsors just to get certain accounts cancelled. its not even funny. partially because very few can read a header and know if its real or not, and then verify that it is. send me 50 accounts at random from any programs, i can forge you a header, and email, and everything else you need to go bitch at them. other fuckers seed lists that they sell with email addresses' for the sole purpose of hurting the other persons partnerships with sponsors. the possibilties are endless. so dont bitch about shit you fuckers dont know about.

Furthermore who gives a fuck who is spamming who isnt, and who is making the money off it. For all the people that hate spam, there are just as many that hate tgps and giving away of free porn. If you spent more time making your own damned bag of loot, and less worrying about others youd all be a lot better off. no wait dont do that, leave more of the pie open for the rest of us to pick up and walk away with while you dorks have your backs turned.

The fact will always remain the same, if im sending a sponsor 100 joins a day, not a fucking chance on your life they will cancelled me without pay. because 100 joins a day or more is a BIG fucking hit to take revenue wise. Let alone pissing on someone that has sent you probably tens of thousands of $$$ in revenue. That you have probably discussed thier mailings with, and have openly accepted. Instead youll just add the person to the remove file and make sure the mailer doesnt hit them again. Because thats a business relationship FEW would walk away from. Open up your eyes. this shit was built on spam, and still grows daily because of it. embrace it.

if you cant handle spam get the fuck off the internet.

JDog 06-23-2003 04:20 PM

No spamming is permitted; your email list must be opt-in, double opt-in is preferred.

I think that means NO SPAMMING? That is in the Terms and Conditions. But then you could've opt-in for a mail list that somebody bought or sold.

And as you say who would want to break up a business where you get anywhere from 30-100 new trials a day.

Well to answer that question... Topbucks would.

Let's see - you were shut down once for violating our terms by using misleading subject lines, and violating trademarks and copyrights of other US corporate entities. You said then that you didn't realize that was a violation of our terms. Up to the point prior to the mailing in which you violated the terms, things had been going well, so we decided to give you a second chance. You then proceeded to violate the terms in precisely the same way.

What can I say? We gave you a second chance, and you decided not to follow the terms again. This time you don't get paid. End of story.

If you were warned once and still used it the second time then I would have to agree with Q on that.

Not necessarily - but I would expect you to realize that sending someone a message that says it's an "e-card" but that is actually an ad for a porn site would count as a misleading subject line.

From the terms:
"No misleading subject lines or false claims concerning the content of the message."

That seems pretty clear to me....

Although I feel this subject is a closed case and there is no need for it to be discussed further, I will bring my side of the story.

MysteryMan- Regarding your account, I must admit that I at first was more open then I currently am, because I was not completely informed of all the circumstances regarding your account.

I at first, believed your excuse of ignorance regarding our clear cut terms on mailers, but once I was informed of the numerous times you were warned and the spam complaints coming in regarding your mailings, I realized that ignorance was no longer a valid excuse.

Bringing this to the boards is not going to get you your money, although if you had abided by our terms (not spammed) and mailed responsibly the matter of your payment would not be an issue.

NOTR 06-24-2003 01:16 PM

That's funny.

Topbuck rep has been all over me for a few months getting me to send out some mail for them.

Fine take a day and do a test run. Bam the account is closed.

Funny they ask me to mail, send me warning for some complaints then decide to close it that same day.

Topbucks if your reading this, send the 2g + you owe me to your local charity.

Like Mystery Man said, one day you will piss off the wrong guy.

Remember when candidclicks was getting hit, some pissed off mailer started mailing child porn and linking it to his corporate site. Just imagine he was one of the people who got ripped off by topbucks. The damage that would cause. All your sites would be down days at a time, no other host would take you on with that much heat comming down on you. Candid even had the feds at his house.

Personally im glad I just did a test run. It was to test your credibillity to pay for mail traffic.

That's a joke. I sent you guys numerous spam complaints and the fucker kept on spamming, so I quit your sorry spam-friendly program. I still get a few spams here and there.

As long as the spammers send you signups you turn a blind eye. Like I said, a fucking joke.

Here's a free tip: If the email address has the word webmaster in it you should probably filter the fucking thing out. In fact, put the word webmaster in the filter.
