Yes it will work but I would highly recommend formatting your hard drive and getting a clean install. |

I don't know how you could stand installing that over 98. A clean install is the best way to go. I try to do a format and fresh install once a year to clean all the shit out of it.
I hated XP at first too, until I changed the interface so it looked like the old style. It's worth upgrading just for NTFS alone. |

http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=145485 I wouldn't even consider it. Evil Dick, I have had the old interface since day one. It is just like w98, only better:) |
You can install XP on a seperate partition on your hard drive and dual boot, in order to give yourself plenty of time to re-install your programs from Win98.
XP has a boot manager in it, but I would reccomend creating a seperate partition and changing the active primary for the install, this way you could wipe out Win98 without problems when you are ready. Partition Magic has a good boot manager for doing this. It is a very bad idea to install XP over Win98, you will be plagued with problems. A clean install is the only way to go. Good Luck.:2 cents: |
I have installed xp over 98 without any problems. But that was my exgf computer which is only used for surfing, e-mail etc. But if your pc is full of programs that eat a lot of resources you better make a fresh install.

Yes it can be done.
