how much $ to start a BIG paysite?
 

hey guys, I have wonderful dreams for what I might do with my $ in a few months. I would like to open a pretty big paysite

in general, how much does a big paysite cost to make? (mostly exclusive content, designs, advertising and all) ?

well i would say save at least a good 10k to be sure,
it can be done for cheaper if u do everything yourself but thats not usually the case.

I don't see how it could be done for $10k.

You figure around 125 initial sets at $50 each for just average paysite content, and that's over $6,000. What about really high quality stuff and/or exclusive?

Then there's the weekly updates issue even though not much $ is coming in yet. Even on 3 months losses that's 12 weeks x at least 3 photosets per week. 36 x $50 = another $1,800 at least.

Then again, members area quality doesn't seem to be a big issue with new paysites anymore. Just make the best tour ever and get the surfers money any way you can I guess is how it works.....

dude- 10-20k will do it. also its possible to open a teen site or anything that is already saturated... but be sure to come with fresh and unique content...:warning

Hmm... teen sites CAN convert if the tour is good enough. I know first hand from my own tours that a ton of people promote happily. I agree with geps, you can take nearly any niche and turn it into a super hot converter if you lend something special to it, like a unique tour concept, exclusive content, innovative promotional ideas, etc.

agree 100% with you but this business is about retention and not getting that first signup only. Now I dont know your sites to make and statement about your retention etc. but I know true numbers of large teen sites the retention does not come close to sites that are not common content.

Very true, if conversion is queen, then retention is king.

A site has GOT to have good stuff, exclusive stuff, to keep members. I'd lay off the plugins that surfers have seen a million times before. They're not worth the monthly fees in most cases. About the only reason for plugins is for live sex shows (unless you intend to provide that yourself, but not for 10k!) and to inflate the pic/video count for the tour if you feel that's important to your marketing.

Personally, I think telling them you have a substantial amount of EXCLUSIVE content that is really top notch and fits well with the niche is a much better converter than the old "1 million pics and 500,000 videos!" BS that surfers have read a thousand times.

10,000 really good exclusive (or semi exclusive) niche pictures and maybe 1000 videos is a decent start for a site, but it's very important to have regular updates. With a paysite that focuses on exclusive niche content, sometimes even weekly updates might not be enough to satisfy.
