Why use pop ups

I personnaly dont get them. Ya i understand 1 or 2 but what about those 30 pops that crash your comps

PimpRoll 06-19-2003 09:36 PM

you have to find a happy medium,

why are different fast food places usually all on the same street.

except with pop ups you get the commission of sending a customer to your competition :thumbsup

i do agree i'm not a fan of pop up mega-hell :thumbsup

People make a little money off of a pop up and somehow reason that if they add 10 pop ups... they'd make 10 times more.

popups make money. period.
Will I explain how to use them properly? no. continue to wonder way people use them. :thumbsup

This is assuming everyone buys their porn on the spot, and you are losing them forever if they don't buy right now.

Don't like them... get a fucking pop-up stopper and stop your whining! :1orglaugh

yes, smart popups

dont just popup an ARS site and wait for the bank to roll in

30 targeted links, you gotta get your surfer to where they ACTUALLY want to go, or to a similar site that they just left.

That doesn't sound right. If the person leaves your site, why send them to something similar? If they left your site, they did it (generaly) for one of two reasons,

1. They aren't interested in your niche.
2. They have an interest your niche, but not your site.

In case one, sending them to the same niche is a waste, as they aren't interested and in case 2, you need to improve your site to convert people who want to buy a membership to a site catering for your niche. Making sales from your competition in the same niche seems like a wasted sale to me.

Buy hey, just my :2 cents:

I disagree. Popups have been around for years and our business just keeps growing despite increased console use. Most big sites now use 4-7+ consoles while a few years ago it was only a few.

Consoles make money period. The people using them understand this, the people not are just leaving money on the table.

I personaly send all my traffic through a console chain of like 10+ consoles... and guess what... EACH console makes money. It's all in your strategy and what each console shows. If consoles where hurting the industry then they wouldn't be making money.

And serioulsy think about it.... when a surfer is hard and horny and see's something he wants, do you really think a console is going to stop him? If he likes the tour of the site and wants to join he's NOT going to say "oh this tour gets me really horny, i want to join BUT i'm so moraly against popups I'm not going to join because I just saw an entrance popunder"... BULLSHIT... When a surfer is horny he's going to join a site no matter what...

Just my :2 cents:

Actually I suggest offering a few links in the same niche and then a few in others. The traffic you got to your site maybe be targeted but they just didn't like the tour for some reason. Offering a few other targeted same niche sites may convert. For those that are totally not interested they'll click the alternate links..
