win xp gurus
 

when computer loads windows xp what do i press to make it do a scan disk before it gets to windows ? i know u can do it from windows but my system crushed and it wont get in, i need to do a scandisk before it logs in to windows after load. F8 right after load doesn't seem to have it... please help thx;)

If it crashed it should run it automatically, or you could put in your installation disk which does a scandisk before it installs, I believe, but I'm probably wrong.

it asks if it should start normally or safe mode.. both dont work, right after it loads when going to login screen it restarts

shit something like that happened to me when I tried to rollback a windows update that sucked... so I just re-installed XP overtop and didn't lose anything... you should be able to do that

Scan Disk is not going to fix that problem.

boot off the winXP cd and do a "repair"


...hrm... I Know that is what I would do for 2000.... but not sure you can do that for xp
