has anyone had acupuncture?
 

So I've decided to try acupuncture for my jaw clenching/teeth grinding. After doing a lot of research this is a recommended treatment for TMJ.

Has anyone ever tried acupuncture? What was it like?

I did. The first time I wasn't even able to relax.. all I thought about was the fucking needles stuck to my nerves.

Like the 5th time I fell asleep as soon as the needles were in..
Can't remember what for I went there for, but it was a pleasant experience.

You'll have people here claim that it's a bunch of bullshit, or that the mind is a powerful thing and by just believing in something so silly will be enough.

Well I say try it.

I suffered from Migraine headaches since I was about 12 years old.

These things would come on and last 2-4 weeks and nothing would stop the pain.

I could take tylenol or aspirin all day long but it would only take the edge off.

Anyway, I was about 21 when my employer in LA suggested I see an acupuncturist.

I did, right during the middle of my migraine and after seeing him 2-3 times a week for 2 weeks the migraine went away and I have not had a single one since and I am now 36 years old.

So whether or not it actually cures things or if it's just mind over matter I don't care. I don't have migraines anymore and that's all that is important :)

my girls crazy uncle has this acupuncture thing he carries around with him poking himself in the head all the time hahaha he makes me laugh.

was drinking with him couple weekends back, he took out a pen and started poking his skull. I asked him what the fuck he was doing, it looks like a pen but its acupuncture hahah

I definitely believe in alternative medicine.

You grind your teeth too? Boy, sometimes I wake up and literally can not open my mouth for a few seconds it's clenched so tight.

Acupuncture should work to relieve the stress that causes that. So I'm told. Let me know if it works for you.

my mom actually is a doctor and does acupuncture are well. The money she makes from it per hour :Graucho

Yes, I have had accupuncture before. It worked great for me ... had a lot of pain in my knee after fucking it up playing sports and accupuncture really helped. And it is virtually painless.

And it does work, whever I have a headache, even minor she just sticks some needles in me, and in 5 min its gone.

Right now its approved officially by the government, and actual doctors are starting to do it more and more.
