Basic Spelling for Adult Webmasters - Lesson 1

Sponsor - S-P-O-N-S-O-R. Not sponser or sponcer.

They're - A contraction. Short for "they are".
Example - They're all idiots.

There - At or in a place or point.
Example - Get your ass out of there.

Their - Posessive
Example - Their transsexual dog molested my cat.

Your - Posessive
Example - Your cat liked it.

You're - A contraction. Short for "you are".
Example - You're an idiot.

Personally I dislike grammar nazis but I also dislike idiots who lack a basic understanding of the English language. If English is not your primary language, ignore this thread. You have an excuse. If your native language is English, and you have finished the 3rd grade there is NO excuse for making stupid mistakes.

Prolly necessary :-)

Prolly = probably

Absolute Series.
Your site was actually shut DOWN 100% servers and all becasue APIC caught you stealing content time and time again. Endless amonunts of times. I can list 10 paysite companies and content companies who had you on thier shitlist for a long time as a "theif"

You were warned by them endless times, over and over again.
Paysite companies sent you warings to remove thier stolen content from your gallereis, threatened to sue. APIC sent warnings to you, your hosts and DNS.

YOu ignored them.
They made an exapmle of you.

You were shut down.

You had to sell your shit to Piere it got so bad.

APIC was all over your ass.
YOu were the first and the most highly publicized site being closed down for being a theif.

ANd you did it all on my buddies (boneprone family) free host.

Dont use my name in your thread to draw attention.
Its not nice.
Your past track record is checkered.

Get your facts straight first, check the skeletons in the closet first, and look into your public history first before trying to take me on.

Give me your domains that I have sent 200-400 hits to a day so I can have them removed and be done with you.
:winkwink:

Buff 06-18-2003 08:23 AM

You didn't address "its" and "it's" or the other shit like "her's".

The worst offense is, of course, pronoun/antecedent related, the primary violation being "everyone... their....."

Single antecedent takes a single pronoun.

I guess this was Lesson 2.

Why not spread out the lessons a little? Obviously a vast majority of these morons couldn't comprehend the lesson when it was covered back in elementary school. We don't want to overwhelm these feeble minds.

It never fails to happen.

Whenever someone posts a spelling rant, they always mispell something in it. Very funny.

Yeah, I would have to agree with your rule. It's almost always true that grammar police fuck up during their corrections.

ADL Colin 06-18-2003 10:48 AM

"Grammer" is a funny misspelling because of the context it is invariably used in.

I don't think "prolly" is a misspelling because assumably people write it intentionally. ??

This brings up an interesting point. Language evolves quite a bit over time. English evolved from German in just a millennium or so, for example. Read Old English. Why is it old? It changed of course.

Changes in grammar and spelling occur despite wide-spread resistance to those changes. For a long while people may be annoyed with a word like "ain't" or a contraction like "y'all" until suddenly it is as common as the alternative and becomes part of the official lexicon rather than slang.

An excellent example from grammar is the use of the word "were" in the subjunctive mood. When one wishes to convey the likelihood of a situation it has long been considered proper english to use were instead of was.

Example "If I were to go with you, would you be happy?"

People use was much more frequently however. Though it is considered improper English people prefer to say "If I was to go with you, would you be happy?" I'd say that the improper is well on it's way to being proper.

English is a ratty mess of German and French, at least in its more mainstream versions. In its less mainstream forms, say in the Bronx, it is something else.

LOSE = when you don't win, you lose... not a winner.

LOOSE = what your ass is.

Tala 06-18-2003 12:44 PM

While most of my personal annoyances were addressed, let us please remember that PLURALS DO NOT TAKE APOSTROPHES!!

It is not dog's or cat's unless they own it. If you're talking about more than one of something, it's simply "dogs" and "cats" (for example).

If it's hers, then so be it. Matter of fact, many of those webcam sites might be hers. (Note that there is no apostrophe used here. The English language is daffy.)

If it's got something of its own, it uses no apostrophe. However, it's confusing when you're conjoining it and is. (Apostrophe needed to conjoin it and is, making it's. There is no apostrophe for the possesive of it....or the plural of it.)

"Never end a sentence a preposition with." Used that line for a paper in one of my English classes once. The instructor loved it. However, ending a sentence with a proposition could be fun.

Thank you and good day.

Now Lensman is giving extra credit for perfect grammar and spelling.

If I am doing an announcement or have something valuable with regard to business, I may take the time to make sure everything is perfect, but c'mon don't you think you are being just a tad self important to hammer typos or a simple unconscious mistakes.

(I had a typo so there is an edit... point made)

I hate overly critical types...what is the point... are you really trying to be of service here, or are you simply grandstanding and indulging in self marvel at your superior spelling and grammar.

We are on a porn Webmaster message board...this is not fucking toastmasters

Rock on underachievers!!!

The list needs more "alot" ... it isn't a fucking word. "A LOT", and allot isn't the same meaning.

A couple of you have already mentioned "looser."
WRONG: You're a big looser
RIGHT: Your grandmother's pussy is looser than a muumuu on an anorexic

And if you're going to do porn, learn how to spell MASTURBATE. It's not "masterbate."

Fuck that mentality, if someone is old enough to be on this board, they're old enough to have left school. They shouldn't let people graduate from school until they learn basic grammar and spelling. "Then" and "than". 4 fucking words... how hard can it be to learn the difference for someone that makes the same bullshit errors again and again and again? Although this board is possibly 90% school dropouts and underage webmasters, anyone else shouldn't be allowed to claim "I graduated from school" until they can spell basic words and use proper grammar in their NATIVE language.

Anyone poster that dropped out of school should have their member label changed to (and stuck on) "HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT", and that is fucking that.

Added:
I have to say I'm not talking about the odd typo or grammatical error, and I have to point that out because I know that stupid (mostly American, but some British) pricks will read this, then feel the need to hit the reply button and dance around the obvious.

Whatever...if you have time in your day to be upset about typos and grammar...more power to you.

So what do you want to do... start a petition to have those that have the occasional misspelled word or typo or grammatical error banned?????

Pompous ass!

Color it however you want Shakespeare we all sell dirty pictures at the end of the day. If you feel we need to make this a scholar club... by all means go right ahead. Meanwhile, I will be closing deals with the commoner.

If you are that annoyed at the posting habits on a fucking webmaster board maybe you need to take a long look in the mirror and see if you are being honest with yourself about what you do for a living.

This will never be a community that gives two shits about ANYTHING other than.... what?s that class.....

YES!!! MONEY!!!! Good work; now get back to your spelling assignment.

Oh and yes Jeeves I am one of the stupid AMERICAN webmasters who is going to reply.

Feel like the Mr. Smarty pants you wanted everyone to think you are now???
