What is the best way to capture images from a DVD?

Ok let's hear the processes that some of you use to get CRISP images from DVD's. I had been converting to Mpeg2 and then mass capturing and sorting out the good from the bad. Is there a better way?

Just to clarify ... talking still pics of course :)

Use PowerDVD playback program. In the control bar, there is an icon to take still pics. You can take anysize you want.

Otherwise, it is the long way , frame by frame.
