Heidi Fleiss banned from entering UK

Heidi Fleiss banned from entering UK

Heidi Fleiss has been prevented from visiting Britain by immigration officials at Heathrow.

The convicted Hollywood madam had been due to make a round of television appearances to publicise her memoirs.

But when she arrived from California she was refused entry because of her criminal record, reports the Evening Standard.

Fleiss was jailed for three years in 1996 for money laundering, tax evasion and pandering - a legal term for providing prostitutes, which has become the title of her book.

Fleiss, 37, had been due to appear on several TV programmes including the chat show V Graham Norton, as well as attend book signings.

Her book is intended as the start of a new career exploiting her infamy after the business running 150 girls was brought down by the FBI and Los Angeles police in a sting operation.

But it does not reveal any of the names in her notorious little black book, which are said to include far bigger Hollywood figures than Charlie Sheen, her most famous client, who testified against her in court.

When famous convicted criminals try to enter the UK (generally for a public event), there's always a media circus.

And the UK Government seems to do the obligatory "We shouldn't let them into the country to set an example. But okay, just this time...."

well, the US sometimes keeps people from the UK (and other places) from coming in if they have drug convictions. Not all obviously, but they can and do.

Also, the UK has a law about people selling books and profiting from a crime they commited. Like her or not, she was convicted.

If they have criminal records, yes. The US does it to I believe. Although I think there is obviously some flexibility or Bush would be booted out. Muhahhahahah.

So, the UK decided not to let a convicted felon into their country. Big deal.
