Fastest you ever went in a car?
 

So here's a totally business related topic for ya'll... but I just saw this thing on TV about a ride they have at a local park where they have a fake funny car on a rail and they shootyour down a 1/4 mile track in 5 seconds. Must feel nuts.

So I wondered what ya'll speed junkies ever got up to? I had an old 80s Mustang pinned at 140 and have no idea how fast I was going. That was it for me.

In a car, as the passenger, 145.

On a motorcycle, 177, then I got pulled over, taken to jail, bike impounded, lost my license for 6 months, had to take defensive driving school, paid 386 bucks for the ticket, 300 bond and insurance went up 500 anually.

140 in a Mustang 5.0 in downtown while drunk... was passenger.

84 MPH - 1988 Hyundai Excel ... downhill.

250 km/h on a bmw on autobahn.

I once drove my cab into a radar 170km/h in a 60km/h zone. That was fun.

... about a week ago I went close to 300km/h in a porsche turbo on the german autobahn ... it´s pure thrill and not even illegal !!

did it for almost 3 hours... you could see the gas gague move...

Its almost 700 miles from Miami to Atlanta.

Even at 150mph it would take 4 1/2 hours.

Not to mention theres no way to maintain

First date: I think the ex's LeSabre pegged at about 35...man, that was wild.

Years later, while trying to work off frustration, I drove my Prelude to about 90...oh, to be so young and wild again.

My worst almost got a speeding ticket was at 110 on the Ventura Freeway one night. The CHP officer that pulled me over was the coolest cop ever. He said you look like a responsible person so I take it you're going to give me the I'm late for a business meeting excuse.

I said well kind of, I'm late for my birthday party. He looked at my driver's license and saw it was indeed my birthday and said don't ever drive that fast again and have a Happy Birthday sir. I was floored since I know at that speed they can even arrest you for wreckless driving.

When I drove a Jetta I used to do 130-135 mph.

175Mph in a suped up trans am on I-95 from Delware to Philadelphia PA, there was nitrous involved.

I wasnt driving, a friend was....Scared me senseless. That was the last time I ever rode with him again.

I loved my VW Jetta but it wasn't built for speed. It could handle doing around 80 on a regular basis up and down Rt 97 between Baltimore and Annapolis but push her over 100 and she SHOOK! I hit around 130-140 mph one night coming home from a concert and that was the limit.

GOD I MISS THAT CAR!

it seemed to ride pretty smoothly even at high speeds, it was a fun car :)

i've done 150-155mph a few times.

well the speedo only went to 140 and it was buried...as a 1968 olds 98 with a 455 "rocket".

I did 141 as the high and then I took my car to denver 1200 miles in 13 hours. Sweet as hell! I got stopped once at over 100 but in Colorado it is hard for them to bitch I guess.

155 mph in a 02 vette, passed a taxi around 130, he struck his hand out of the window, not sure if I got the old GFY or was he waving:)

140 on a bike, pretty fun, rather be in a car though

95 in a skeeter bass boat, the only time speed as really scared me.

I have to admit I'm a speed junky, I plan on doing some driving(racing) school things next winter.

200 km/h on peugeout 406 , but you can`t feel real speed on car.

however, slowed to the speed limit about a mile before I saw a car pulled over. Glad I stopped :-)

Why not just go 300?

There wasn't enought power for 300km/h...the Porsche was C4 with 300HP and max speed 280km/h on the book.

A friend of mine pushed his 996 Turbo to 320km/h on the autobahn but it is 420HP. Insane!!!

140 in my turbo awd celica... on a 4 lane left curve with banking opposite of which was ideal and swerving through traffic. that was fun.

it was probably more fun at 120+ in the rain in that car... nobody could see behind me, that was great.

Two days after I bought my new Cobra I had that thing up to 150mph; I think it might have been able to go 155mph but I ran out of road. :-/
