ALternative .htaccess authentication
 

Hello.

I was wondering what is a good alternative to .htaccess authentication.

Has any one had any success with auth-php ?

I downloaded it but have no idea how to actually use it.

IS there something else out there free that works like it? and can possible detect password sharing, etc?
