The list of dead porn sites is growing!

Some notable porn sites have shut their doors over the past few months, was wondering if there were any more I'm not aware of.. Also anyone know the reasons why? I know that...

BustyCindy.com - shut down, not enough members
KevinMaklin.com
TerezaFox.com
AmandasGirls.com

greentea 06-16-2003 11:13 AM

notable? I have not heard of any of those sites before..

It's called to much competition

stevecore 06-16-2003 11:13 AM

what was so notable about them?

sweetcuties 06-16-2003 11:14 AM

Cause most of the sites are shit... give the surfer good content, reasonable price and updates... no problems

greentea 06-16-2003 11:22 AM

To much fucking porn, more sites shut down the better.

X37375787 06-16-2003 11:22 AM

the list of dead sig buttons is growing exponentially :(

Socks 06-16-2003 11:23 AM

Maklin's site was quite well done actually, they had over 150 exclusive photo sets online shot by Maklin, plus some rather large MPG videos.. I've already had 4-5 e-mails from surfers asking what happened to it.. It was a fairly popular site.

Busty Cindy had a lot of her own content too, but just didn't have enough customers as far as I know..

There must be more that are being put to sleep, anyone know?

Yeah we're about to kick the bucket too. I've been advertising all over the religious newsgroups, nothing but player haters over there... I'm sick of arguing with them. A whole year of arguing and they still don't agree with me. Sigh.

geps 06-16-2003 11:38 AM

competition drives better quality to the customers for the same or lower price, so its not a bad thing... unless you want to make money delivering crappy shit products... :helpme

it will drive down profits if you dont move along with the competition... if you struggle to make your business different from what is now, for sure you will loose profits...

nowdays.... for the same price you charged a year ago, you need X% more content or quality to reach the same results... plus, you need to be original, unique, making new things will make your product different, and will reach great audiences..

:2 cents:

Socks 06-16-2003 11:49 AM

You make really good points Geps, it's very important to catch people's attention because there's just so much to choose from. Plus the surfers are much smarter now, many now know the difference between cookie cutter and exclusive pictures.

I think we're going to see a lot more sites go down over the next year, and unfortunately some of the people who *do* shoot their own content will go under.. Adapt or die!

I belive the most important thing is to treat the customer with respect and honesty, doing that you already will achieve great results no matter what...

:thumbsup

That just business. In any industry, business's will come and go.
The adult industry is no different. Site's will come and go.

So I really don't see anything remarkable about it.

rubber is beginning to hit the road. it's all going to be exclusive content sites in the not so distant future - the problem is retention ain't all that dramatically better with exclusive content
from what I hear.

Exclusive content is good, but it's got to be quality exclusive content , just putting up crap that nobody else has isn't going to get you anywhere. Look at some of these reality sites that came after Bangbus, some are complete shit, really embarassing. Some are quality.

I really wish the third party processors would help give this industry some guidance - only they REALLY know what's going on because they have all that data. They have retention rates that most of us only guess at - i'd like to see how strong the correlation between 'quality', 'exclusivity', 'quantity' etc and retention.

more competition means lower market share to go around. you have to work harder to keep your market share. take out that competition and you make more for your efforts. its pretty basic stuff to understand.

thats absolutely correct, in one hand you got the customer, that will pay the same as he payed before and will receive much more quality, in the other you got the webmaster, that will have to deliver quality if he wants to stay alive...

of course, for the webmaster this is bad, but is how economy works....

I wonder about old giants like Cybererotica and Kara's Adult Playground? What about Danni's Hard Drive?

Today, a site needs a reason to exist. There's too much competition. I think old-fashioned "department store of sex"-type sites are dinosaurs. Niche sites appealing to various fetishes and special interests, sites with some entertainment value (no matter how "sick" that entertainment might be: Bang Bus, Max Hardcore, Exploited Teens, Anal Destruction, etc., come to mind). These seem to be what's making money. I don't see too many sites advertising only that they have tons of pics anymore. That worked four or five years ago, but it's passe now.

yeah I hear a couple assclowns BS'd a bunch of newbies into signing up with some 19 year old kid's hosting company, which in turn ripped them all off. That could be part of the sig problem.

I know, it's terrible. So many porn sites are dying every day, while we all are living our lives, not aware of the terrible things happening around us.

Let us take a minute of silence to stand still, let the porn sites that are no longer with us not be forgotten..
