Ok, here's the deal... I made a deal with rpet over some spring break content from Daytona Beach Florida... The deal was for a Mini DV tape of the content (1hour).... For $250.00 That was on April 28th... I paid immediately with paypal...

It is now June 15th and I have not received anything from RPET, despite repeated promises. Most of the time, the guy doesn't even respond to my icq's...

Now, he claims that he cannot produce me what i paid for. And on top of it he can't repay me using paypal. Instead he has to write me a check .... Which is fine with me, however my credit card company informed me that if I wanted to charge back the amount, that I have until next friday to do so effectively. (Capital One)

6 weeks is a bit long to wait for content you prepaid for, but why didn't you just charge it back instead of posting it on here?

Just give him a deadline for FED EXing the check back to you. Or for that matter a wire or ACH can happen within hours.

Checks take too long to clear. If you didn't get the money back as agreed then that would have been the appropriate time to post this in my opinion.

Do you really need to ask that question? I like to be informed before I go into business deals. Public exposure also helps to keep the borderliners on the honest side of the fence.

If he does a chargeback, he'll be committing credit card fraud? In whose eyes? Certainly not in the credit card company's eyes. Merchandise not received is a perfectly valid chargeback reason.

necoeds, you may want to confirm this with your bank, because i think you have misunderstood. the chargeback policy for merchandise not received is that you must wait 60 days from the day of the order before you can start a chargeback. next friday would make it 60 days.

basically, you don't have until then to initiate the chargeback. you have to wait until them to initiate the chargeback.

i work for visa, so i'm a pretty good source on this, but double-check with them just to make sure i'm right.
