1 Page tour, 2 Page tour, or 3 Page tours.
 

Those of you who run paysites or programs, what have you found to convert best for you? Many sites are now going away from 3 page tours and focusing more on 1 or 2 page tours. I have had a couple of program owners who have told me 1 page tours convert best. What is your opinion?

back in the day, flashcash used 1 page tours and those things use to convert like a mofo. One spalsh...and a join, If thats what you mean by a one page tour.

what would be interesting to find out is the results of people who have tried both a 1 page tour and a 2 page tour for the same site.

Currently testing a 1 , 4 and mutli page thumb type affair. The conventional style four page is pulling far better at the moment.

Actually means 4 tour pages + a join page. But then it could also simply be the designs so we'll shortly be changing those and seeing if that makes any difference.

Mind you - even pushing other peoples stuff such as topbucks sites we always get far better conversions from the old style tours. If they're done well it seems the punters still love them.

It's a mystical thing. In our experience, what works, works, no matter the number of pages. We have some sites that have seven pages, and some that have two. Finding what works - what design and content you put on the tour that most closely meshes with what your customers expect based on the site's name and what it's about - is the key.

My current site is splash, tour, and join, and it converts pretty well with targeted traffic. Crap traffic thrown at it does horribly :-)

When it first started, it had 4 pages then join, did slightly worse. I will probably be adding a second page to my site, to highlight features and adding back in a calendar (mmm, those SE hits always went to my calendar page)
