Fuck me my hand is all swollen up and turning weird colors and shit. However when I touch myself now it feels like it's someone else, maybe a fat chic with really thick hands.

Which has a better rate.

Digipimp 06-15-2003 02:03 PM

I have some medicine I'm taking for it, now as long as it doesn't eat up too much of my hand I'll be cool.

PersianKitty 06-15-2003 02:05 PM

Get to a doc. The first 8 hours or so is nothing. The real pain sets in after that. You'll also have flu-like symptoms. A doc will likely give you antibiotics, possibly a steroid and dapsone.

Some bites develop into some really nasty lesions.

Yeah I think so, that's what the doctor said, anyway it doesn't hurt and it's over a day old now, actually it seems like it might be getting better now that i'm on some good antibiotics.

Not likely, I thought it was a regular bug bite or something since i'm in texas, until my hand started swelling up and shit. then the area directly around the bite started turning red and a little darker and then i hit the emergency room in a hurry to make sure it wasn't something worse. my guess is it happened while i was asleep.

Amputate Your Head 06-15-2003 02:21 PM

better make sure.... those things eat the flesh... if you don't get it taken care of properly, you'll end up with an amputated limb. No joke.

Call it a friendly warning. You don't fuck around with brown recluse bites. The necrosis is swift and destructive. The venom can paralyze, rot and even kill.

Well I'm already doing the medicine and it's starting to go away and the swelling has gone down alot so I'm not too worried. Looks like I got to the doctor very soon after I noticed it and am going to avoid any major problems as long as I take my antibiotics until I run out and go back to the doctor if it gets worse looking.

that's not necessarily a good positive sign.... don't gauge it by the swelling.... brown recluse bites tend to look like they're getting better as they start to rot and eat away, destroying the flesh. Stay on top of it man.... and make sure the doc you're seeing keeps a close eye on that shit or you could very likely end up losing your fucking arm.

Well then will you at least invite me down to Hawaii to party for a bit before I die then?

Is it typical for brown recluse bites to be serious? I always thought it was, until I read this article on CNN a couple weeks ago:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/South/05/....ap/index.html

From reading that article, it said at least 15 inmates had been bitten, causing ONE of them to need medical attention.

MrPopup 06-15-2003 03:49 PM

Caught a small one in the kitchen the other day. we kept him overnight in a jar with grass......awww...nice. i found these pics on the thing called internet.

The first complaints date to January, said assistant jail administrator Matt Vaughn. He said one inmate had "pretty substantial" symptoms and required medical attention.

That seems to be referring to the first complaint or complaints. That doesn't necessarily mean only 1 person ended up neede treatment when all was said and done. Also, a sudden mysterious infestation of spiders sounds like a newly hatched egg sack to me. It's possible some of the spiders are extremely juvenile.

When I was 14, I was bitten by one on my knee.

I could barely walk for a couple weeks.

To make it worse, I had to walk up a flight up stairs daily.

It left a hole in my knee that you can still see today. (Almost 10 years later)

Mean Stuff man...

arial 06-15-2003 03:51 PM

Say bye bye to everyone, my dog got bit by one and died. :BangBang:

bobv50 06-15-2003 04:06 PM

Digipimp...I'm in Texas too...those motha-fuckin' spiders are bad during the summer..One bit me on my thigh last summer..I thought it was just a regular insect bite and I put some rubbing alcohol on it and I noticed it had a tiny pin-hole in the middle and I got a tube of Neosporin and I was trying to squeeze some into the pin-hole....Man...the fucking tip of the neosporin tube went into the bite and all kinds of puss and shit exploded out. The poison eats away at your flesh from the inside. It may hurt but you gotta squeeze all that fucking poison out of the bite..or your wound will end up looking like that picture. It takes antibotics a few days to build up in your body and by then you will have a nasty looking chunk of flesh missing..:2 cents:

People react differently to Recluse bites, some have severe reactions (like the pics above) while others have little reaction. I hope yours is the latter. They are common spiders in the south central part of the US,many people get bit and its no big deal. We always hear about the worst ones.

That's totally what it does! I ahd a friend back in my home town, got bitten while she was cleaning out the garage.

She was taking boxes down from a shelf, and dust and all kinds of stuff was falling all over her--that's when she thinks it got her. Apparently, it fell into her cleavage, and bit her on the left breast. Literally began eating her breast away. It just got so much worse, so fast. Thank god she got to a doctor, but she's got a good silver dollar sized divit on her breast, from where the flesh died off.

Bad BAD news those spiders

yep that's the way I understood it to be, somewhere around 10% or less are the worst affected by them. I heard from the doctor that the condition will worsen and become painful if you are one of those unlucky ones in the first 48 hours roughly. So I'm pretty sure that I'm cool, as soon as I noticed it I opened it and squeezed everything out that I could and then went to the doctor once I saw there was some swelling. It's been over 48 hours now and it never got painful, it just swelled up some and now the swelling is going away.
