This sounds too good to be true... and when you pay for something before you get it, bad things happen... how do I know it will be up for the whole year?

gotta get a little more info here on who your friend is... its a bit risky just throwing away 150$ without no security that it'll run for a year... But indeed a tempting offer ;)

Specs on the server? What NOC is it located in? What kind of bandwidth? How much per GB over 500?

Is this a small company or a dude with a dedicated server that he's overselling to the max?

I agree with you on that one - in 2 months, it have earned itself, but I don't like moving domains to different servers all the time ;)

Dell PowerEdge Server, 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 Xeon, 200 GB SCSI Hard Drives, Cogent Bandwidth (yea.. for the price), $0.25 for every GB over 500.

It's just a company with a datacenter. Yes, small. Small is better in his opinion.
