How do you choose your content provider?
subj...
Just curious. No advertisement here as you can see :) What catches your eye or mind about them? New girls, design of site etc... |
I just scan through newsgroups and use all the public domain content I can get !!
|
I ask around and see if they are dickheads or not. If they are cool, I'll buy. It also helps if they are willing to do special shoots. Price has very little to do with the buying decision as long as it isn't too crazy. I don't buy cheap shit that's been used a million times either.

What if no custom shoots are being done by the provider and if he is mostly a reseller? |

Not one of you have yet said
"IF THEY HAVE THE RIGHT CONTENT THAT FITS THE IMAGE, NICHE AND STYLE OF WHAT MY SITES ARE ABOUT." *advise* When you are going for the surfer with his dick in one hand and his CC in the other. He does not care if the content provider is, Cool A dickhead Your enemy Your lover Has a nice site An easy to use site Has cheap prices FTP He's jeking off looking at the content and imagining he was there, this is all he cares about. You want to make money. Provide him what he NEEDS. Not what you need. |

Yep, finding the kind of quality content that matches the niche/theme of your site is the most important thing when you're looking for a content provider.
But what keeps me coming back to a certain provider's site is: - ease of purchase and delivery. Do they have a tight CC processing and ftp system? or do you have to email back and forth a couple times before they get the order right and then wait 2 weeks for delivery. - frequency of updates. No point in going back very often if there's nothing new to see. - samples display. Definitely need to see a few large samples as well as a contact sheet of the whole set. :2 cents: |
i download it from kazaa :winkwink:
whehe :thumbsup Just kidding around |
I go through the unsolicited spam from webmaster email harvesting, by 10 sets of each and then chargeback.

P.S.: Oh, sorry - unsolicited - I got it :) Those who do it are dicks... |
This is a good thread for both the content providers and buyers. HighRez made a very important point. You need content providers you can depend on for your sites to grow. Display of content is crucial since buyers need to see that the content is a good match for their site.
This might be a "duh!" but I didnt see anyone mention Model Releases and IDs. You gotta make sure the guy your buying from is legit and that they are carrying MR/IDs for every model. |

However you can't see MR's and ID's before you purchase in most cases. Do you mean that? |

ummh... think it was a joke ;) |

But the idea is cool. ...and expensive... |

actually.. i think that will go in my spam autoresponder. |
I think constantly putting up new sets is very important. It shows you are still working, still making money, going to stay in business and give the client the opportunity to buy fresh sets all the time.
In 18 months we have built two sites with 885 sets on them. Thats 49 sets a month, pretty impressive. :thumbsup Two sites? Yes with different quality, diferent licenses and diferent prices. Just made sense. |
You're good customer. I'm sure you'll like the site when it comes online:)

I'd have to say the option to get "unlimited site/domain license" for the larger companies is a HUGE factor that goes into all our content purchases.. it becomes too big of a hassle for the larger companies to deal with smaller content companies hassling them for using their images on say 6 domains, or whatever..
Another thing I HATE is the content providers that let sponsor programs give their content away for FREE to webmasters.. that just KILLS the value of the content. If they allow free hosted galleries to use it.. that is not a problem.. but when they GIVE it away to their webmasters, then it makes it pretty much overused right away.. thats my :2 cents: |

2. What's the difference between "allow free hosted galleries to use it" and "GIVE it away to their webmasters"? |
