Elite cant be applied to us, it was stolen from the jet fighters.
To be elite is to be untouchable, in there case. Never been hit.

None of you fags are Elite. YOU HAVE BEEN TOUCHED. ROFL
No one asked my for an explanation either, so i'll just stfu. :thumbsup

LeeNoga 06-18-2003 07:53 PM

87 posts in six months.... Doesn't qualify you to tell us who is elite and who isn't. It does, however, qualify you to pick up the lint under my desk.

Someone told me to post on the A/S/L thread. Did I find it? :Graucho

TheFLY 06-18-2003 09:46 PM

U know how the term started right? Pretty pathetic actually... You had to be "elite" to get access to the pirate BBS's to download fucking video games. Talk about pathetic. If you weren't "elite" you could be a cop... or you were just a nobody wasting precious time on one of these...

<img src="http://www.ixbt.com/comm/usrhistory/faces.jpg">

meanwhile the other elite kids were frantically dialing to get in :1orglaugh

TheFLY 06-18-2003 09:49 PM

Hmm that other pic didn't work... Here's another eliete modem... hehe

Well back then we all thought it was pretty cool. It was like being in a gang -- only for nerds that had no life. Basically it was all illegal, very sophisticated on some levels -- as far as the software cracks went... These guys would crack the piracy protection schemes -- and get the commercial software out the very same day the shit was released. They called it "0-day warez"... Probably some other people can tell the story better than I can... They had cracking teams -- and they would compete against each other -- to see who could crack shit the fastest and get is distributed... Now remember this is before the internet so you had guys racking up HUGE phone bills OR using illegal methods to make long distance phone calls to get all this pirated software distributed to the "elite" BBS's... These cracks came complete with "loaders" -- kindof like a graffiti tag for a gang... it was a little tiny .exe file inside the .ZIP -- usually did some fancy graphics and maybe some audio...

"FutureCrew" took that to another level and pretty much made it an artform... Probably the whole rave scene grew out of groups like FutureCrew taking their computer graphics/digital music to the public -- I'm not really sure about this but it would be fascinating to know the history of what happened... I was never into the whole Rave thing, but I'm pretty sure that all started in Europe. That's where the best digital music + graphics coding happened back then...
