Amsterdam's police
http://www.expatica.com/main.asp?pad...&item_id=31833
"They described occasions when colleagues were so stoned on Ecstasy while on patrol that they could not even find Amsterdam's main shopping street the Kalverstraat, which is less than two minutes walk from the front door of the Beursstraat police station." :1orglaugh |
Amsterdam Police Sux ! Netherlands Police Sux !

Sounds like that was written by an American who truly believed Nancy Reagan "just say no." I doubt the Dutch would make that huge of a deal over it. Unlike the United States of repression, the drug problem seems hardly "endemic" there, I never saw more than two or three people in the coffee shops at all. And they do tax marijuana sales, I believe, after all coffee shops are licensed specially.
Can't believe this guy who wrote the article has ever been to Europe, if he has he must have stuck with a guided tour for Americans or something (non-smoking of course, and made sure he was in bed by ten). -doug |

Well I understand it's not technically legal, but coffeeshops have special licenses right? I recall seeing green and white decals on only their windows, so I assumed that meant a special license which would equate to a form of "tax" on the business.
My main point was, the article linked seemed to be written by an uptight American...the Dutch I've known are anything but uptight. -doug |
yup thats exactly how it is, its legal to sell within a coffeeshop but to certain levels and not for harddrugs... heard the latest nonsense ? the new dutch government has prepared a lawchange to have smokin wihin coffeeshops set to illegal funny huh so all potsmokers have to start smoking 100% pure since smokin tabacco is gonna be illegal within coffee shops hehehe what a mess huh

This is too funny, friend of mine once walked upto an officer with a joint in his mouth and a beer in his hand to ask something. He had to empty the beercan because he wasn't allowed to drink alcohol on the streets. The police is way too funny over here :1orglaugh

taxes when they buy......but I can assure you that every coffeeshop in Holland has to pay tax for selling marijuana. DynaMite |
Or the other commercial I love is the one they say this is your brain on drugs.
|
there is tax but they cant deduct it ? now thats weird its either high or low tax but any tax from a company towards the purchaser can be deducted, as long as were talking bout "omzetbelasting" = VAT.
If its purchased outside holland then other rules apply but within its all the same, try this if you can read dutch http://www.justitie.nl/Images/11_14049.pdf |

is legal.....Selling is not....it's only decriminalised. Go ask a lawyer I know a number of people that have numerous coffeeshops in Amsterdam. DynaMite :2 cents: |
Free weed, YEAH! stop the herb opression now!
Vote for Herb friendly politicians in Nov! |
"But out on patrol, Beurstraat police are still confronted by the sight of people doing business with hookers, getting stoned and public drunkenness.
Any one of these activities could get you arrested in most other European capitals; but here in Amsterdam, tourists are actively encouraged to get down and party. Police officers are only human, the urge to join the fun must be enticing. " also bullshit...prostitution is legal in many european countries. Germany is relaxing it's policy towards pot as is Denmark. If you've never been to a German bar it's an experience unto itself..these guys can down more liquor than a whale can sea water. Berlin is party central....I've seen people having sex in bars there as well as in France. Berlin has an entire festival devoted to sex and drugs in the spring...called the lovefest parade. here's some pics: http://www.boyorgasm.com/Header_Bild.jpg http://www.boyorgasm.com/truckshot_7.jpg http://www.loveparade.net/ |
